So after putting a few cams out this holiday weekend I started going back through last years photos from a few of my hot spots. I had a pretty big 6 pointer (as we say in the south), or 3x3 as some of you whitetail hunters say that wanna pretend like you’re elk hunting (kidding kidding!) But anyway, I got to thinking. I’d like to see some photos that you guys have of bigger than average 4 or 6 pointers. I ran that cam from June till like mid January I think and only got these two times, so safe to say this isn’t his core range. Maybe just out looking for some late bloomers. Love a big narly 6 point.

Shot this one back in 2019, grunted him in and all I could see when he was running in was tall G2’s and long main beams. Ended up shooting him at about 20 yards with a muzzleloader. I’m not the best picture taker but he had 22” main beams and just a hair over 15” wide for reference.

The land I used to hunt had a lot of 6 pointed genetics in it. I took 2 six pointers off it back in 2018. The first was an old deer with a thick "Crabclaw" style set of horns. I arrowed him at 8 yards with a frontal shot as he was staring me down. I caught him on a narrow lane in thick pines while he was birddogging a young doe. He made it 50 yards. His teeth were pretty well worn down.

The other one was my last firearm deer. I got him cruising for does late season in a remote creek valley up on the north end of the property. I was sitting in a turkey chair backed up against a big tree. The 30-06 did the job from about 70 yards. He ran about 100 yards at top speed after receiving the hit. Bullet entered on right shoulder and exited back of ribs on the offside. 165 Nosler Partition from a Federal factory load.

This guy roamed our farm for a few years in the late 2000s. He ended up getting taken by a farm up the road in 2009. Never saw him in daylight but I dreamed about many encounters with him.

Here's a couple I've photographed over the years. That primos pic buck was beautiful. I don't know that I could have harvested him. Unfortunately all were poached, I found them out of season strapped and dumped on the side of the road by the property I hunt.

Yeah buddy! Both super cool bucks. Also love hunting creek bottoms, something about sitting over the water and how the thermals pull that gets me fired up

Some might count this one as an 8, but he’s a 6 in my book. Showed up on a yearling doe that came into heat in the 2nd rut on a place I hunted a couple years ago in Texas. Hadn’t checked my camera in a few weeks so had no idea he was around. Night time picture was the first picture I had of him and was two days before I killed him. I showed up to hunt that morning and he popped out. Drew on him twice, he buggered both times so no shot. Checked the card and saw that he was sticking with that little doe. Came back that evening with the muzzleloader and killed him dogging that little doe.

Had two big 4s roaming the property I hunt in 2021. Ended up killing one of them on the gun opener here in Michigan. 305EB2FE-E768-4778-BC3D-03A78F81E65A.jpeg

I bet when a buck fights another with really long 4 points that it is like fighting a southpaw....and he might be more likely to get hurt with those stabby things.

Love big 6's! One of my favorite bucks to date, 2019, killed him next to last day at 2:30 PM after an all-day sit. Only buck I've ever shot that I found his shed prior. Total luck, I also don't really shed hunt, just the few I run into scouting. Shed was about 800 yards away at the bottom of the mountain.

Need to go through and find another deer but this one was kinda weird lookin. Never got a single daylight pic. Pretty sure he stayed deeper in and had been shot before. The other was a 6. He had a perfect heavy rack. Screenshot_20220715-111117_Tactacam Reveal.jpgScreenshot_20220715-111440_Tactacam Reveal.jpg

Dead head found this past march while shed hunting. Very rotten so just capped it to maintain the spread. 21" spread on a 6. Thought it was pretty cool.

Hunted him for two seasons before it came together. The day I shot him was the only time I'd seen him in the flesh. Still need to get him aged, but we estimate 6 based on his sheds and what little we know about aging.

Whoa he’s crazy looking. Think he was hit by a car or maybe a fight?
