Veterans sound off

Today I was passing the time watching random YouTube videos. Wound up watching a lady’s full 2020 AT thru hike compilation video and at the end one of my buddies from the sub was on the video, lol.

He thru hiked in 17 or 18 and was hanging out working at a hostel and gave her a shuttle.

Thanks to each and every one of u my kids get to grow up under the umbrella of freedom. None of this would be possible without our service members. For that I solute u!

All of you have my deepest respect and admiration. Thank you for your service to this great country.

I was at the liquor store this evening, BS’ing with the owner, another customer heard us talking and paid for my beer. I felt ashamed.

I know he was doing it to be nice and “thank you for your service”, but I didn’t join for the free stuff. I joined to springboard myself to a civilian job and nothing more. Things changed after 9/11 but I was still there to simply do my job.

To be honest, I have no idea what to say when someone says “Thank you for your service”. Even worse, I feel ashamed for reaching out to the local VA rep today due to my lungs.

What a funny world we live in.

I feel the same way, I can't explain why though. Alot of guys make a list at work of the places that offer free military stuff on vets day. It kinda disgusts me, but I just sit there. Every one is different. I can say this the most awkward conversations start out with thank you for your service, what am I expected to say, youre welcome? I typically say thank you again and move on quickly....

It's because you are too humble. Being as you faithfully served our country that makes you and every other veteran a hero in my eyes including my dad who served in WWII and 2 of my brothers, one Army, one Air Force. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being true Patriots.
