Public Land Hunting VA: Oakley Forest WMA?

Did anyone end up hunting/scouting the Oakley WMA? Looking at going out there for the first time ever and looking for sign and setting up on Monday. Never hunted a WMA before so I'm a little nervous, but thankfully it's not gun season yet.

Public Land Hunting VA: Oakley Forest WMA?

Glad to see there are some other saddle hunters near me. I currently hunt in the Fairfax County deer management program, but the older I get the less I want to drive an hour to hunt. I'm moving out a little west of Fredericksburg off of rt. 3 and am interested the Oakley WMA. Would anyone be...

    Lumenok help...

I had the exact same thing happen to me. Had to use a drill to pull out the insert. Never using lumenok again. I've had more problems with their nocks. If nocturnal could just figure out how to get replacement batteries they would be perfect.

    Camo Question

Does anyone know why my camo would come out like this in a trail cam photo? The entire picture itself is kind of weird because I think the camera is still figuring out if its full daylight or not.

    Best scent control brand

I've used camo dust and I have had countless deer walk right under me and not act suspicious at all. Typically I keep my clothes in a bin. Gonna try using an ozone machine thing this year and see how that does.

Things you've learned (no gear allowed)

Hunt where the deer are, not where they should be. I went to a few spots that should've been deer funnels and saw absolutely nothing. Both times I drove out of the hunting area I saw deer in an open field near a parking lot. I decided to hunt near the field the following week. Killed two deer...

    Strange occurances in the woods

I caught this photo on camera last season. It really creeps me out. It's probably two guys looking for their dog, but my imagination tells me they had a girl enslaved in their basement and she somehow escaped and they are chasing after her. Gives me the chills everytime.

    Lumenok Difficulty

Haha! I lost two arrows this week. One for wind and one because I accidentally used my 20yd pin at 40 yards on my first shot of the day. Couldn't find them and I know where they landed. So I am scheduled to rent a metal detector tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

    Bow Maintenance Survey

That is wild to me that you can't trust two different businesses. Not sure how they have been able to survive.

    Bow Maintenance Survey

It would definitely be difficult. So far I have had a little over 100 people respond and most expect to be between $50-100. Just doing a quick google search, a compound bow string is roughly $75. So that's maximum $25 dollars in labor. But for this I you would have to add in some sort of...

    Bow Maintenance Survey

Yeah, same here. I also don't have any bow shops in my city and making time on the weekends while having a family and working on another degree is hard. I was curious how people would react to some coming to them when its convenient for the customer.

    Bow Maintenance Survey

Good morning all, I made a short survey to see if there is an opportunity for a potential business idea in the future. If you would be kind of enough to take the survey, it would be greatly appreciated. It should take less than 5 minutes. Link to survey: https://forms.gle/CFzEdgQepL3aUMZf7

    What did you do today?

I watched some of John Dudley's School of Nock videos and saw that his day 1 homework was to start doing 10 rounds of 4 shots each day and to record the shots for improvement. To steal a Cameron Hanes technique, I'm shooting twice the distance I would normally shoot, plus some, just to give...

    Thumb release to improve accuracy??

Interesting. One of the other small reasons I switched is because I could leave it clipped to my D loop. I hated climbing the tree and having my trigger release pop out from u der my sleeve and clanking around. Plus the sound of velcro in the woods was like nails on a chalk board so I had to...
