    7/64 Amsteel splicing fid

    I used the nock end of a 1/4" alum. arrow about 6" long 45 degree angle on the cut smoothed it up with wet an dry, works very well, for the lock, small SS wire for the bury, 7/64 is tricky on the bury, really helps to taper the bury, I cut 3 strands about an inch long for the taper.

    no the rope is run through the platform, I have a dogbone going through platform then a daisy chain around the tree then a caribeener back into the dogbone, daisy chain, dogbones and caribeaners are so simple, by adding or subtracting dogbones I can go from an 8" tree to an 8' tree

    R&W Rope the bigger stuff gets pricey but Ive bought some of there left over hanks more than enough, next platform Im going to use 1/4" I use 7/64th on my sticks, amsteel is pretty amazing for as light as it is have a piece of 1/2" that I pulled a 3/4ton truck out of a ditch with.

    pat I tried building one with versa button, couldnt get it to cam in or get solid , Ive hunted with LW tree stands for 20 years, there a great stand amsteel is very simple to work with, to me much easier than straps and alot less weight, lots of utube stuff on amsteel, dont buy the pricey "fids"...

    bourdeau I understand what your saying, but I build or rework all my own hunting equipment to fit me, same reason I reload bullets, tie flies, remodel my house build my barns, I simply enjoy journey.

    bought the post from eastern woods outdoors 1 1/4" 6061 ... rope is amsteel 7/16 daisy chain, with a 12" dogbone that goes through the platform, and caribeaner back onto itself, this camlocks down very tight, and will not budge. post is 12" - platform pivot bolt is 5" down from top, top stand...
