Would you hunt a 2 acre property?

Yep, I do all the time. I love hunting small residential areas. Been doing it for 15+ years.

    Ozonics Sale

First off, I'll start by saying I have no idea if they work. I started treating my clothes with ozone last year and feel that it helped so I wanted to test the in field units as well. The main ozonics site is having a decent Labor Day sale, but they're still pretty expensive to me. I was...

    best rangefinder?

I have the Vortex Ranger 1800 that I really like. I use it for bow and gun hunting.

    Urban Hunting Tips

Be discreet and respectful. Keep copies of your permission in your possession. It may seem easy to hunt deer in urban areas but from my experience, they know where people are supposed to be. And they're not supposed to be in the woods, 15' up a tree. Use big mechanical broadheads. You want a...

    Tired of Tactacam Scalpers

It's insane. The tactacams aren't that good... They're decent for retail price, but if you pay more than retail for one, you get closer to the price of decent cameras. I ran 6 of the original tactacams all last season. The app was garbage and half the time I couldn't even tell what I was...

Anyone actual job or public appearance completely surprised others that your passion is hunting?

Professionally, not really. I'm a CFO of a peanut butter company in South GA (PB2) so it's not super surprising. My boss and coworkers learned a long time ago that golf isn't my thing and I'm ok not being invited. We did a 3 day guided quail hunt for our leadership team last year that I set up...

    This ammo shortage SUCKS

If you're not picky on brand, and willing to pay, you can find ammo on Gunbroker for pretty much every caliber.

    Favorite deer hunting book?

Honestly, there's too much content out there on whitetails these days for me to read anything about them... if I'm going to read an outdoor/hunting book, it's going to be fiction.

    A little GA controversy...

Sorry, this has been an ongoing debate. It's not in the above screenshot, but came from the state deer biologist after asking for a statement from the director quoted above. Again, I have zero problem with Hunter recruitment. What I do have a problem with is driving revenue from license sales...

    A little GA controversy...

Not at all. The state, per their own words, used funding from hard card license sales (an additional upgrade/fee) to fund these programs. The goal as they stated was to drive awareness for GA residents about hunting opportunities. Please explain to me how marketing through a Midwest group...

    A little GA controversy...

Edited original post to add screenshots of the confirmation from the state DNR PR Director.

    A little GA controversy...

Mentioning it here for further visibility because it seems to be occurring in other states as well (TN, AL, etc). Long story short, our state DNR made the decision for 2022 to reduce turkey bag limits and season dates, particularly on public land. Our turkey population has been consistently...

    Darn bee’s

I absolutely hate this time of year. We have 40+ club tower stands and they all have to be cleared of hornet's nests.

Where do you THINK your most at risk of injury or death?

I still say the drive. Statistically, I'll do that more than hanging pre-sets. But I have had some pretty sketchy ladder sets. I do everything solo which makes it harder. Now if you added tractor work to your list... no brainier what is most dangerous in my opinion.

Camofire is having a great deal on black Ovis merino today. I just ordered 3 more shirts.

    Saddle clothing

If you've ever worn Under Armor synthetic blend clothing, the stuff that's like their moisture wicking cotton, it feels almost exactly the same. This is the long sleeve stuff I wear. There's a reason all of the high performance clothing lines (First Lite, KUIU, etc) have gone to merino base...

    Saddle clothing

I understand what you're saying but the difference is night and day. It's not wool like you're thinking. It's a lightweight, breathable fabric. I started wearing it last year and will not wear anything else in the heat. This is what I've been wearing. Looks like they have a good deal going on...

Would you shoot the first doe?

At my honey hole, no. But I will go on doe patrol early in some other spots if the freezer is empty.

    Saddle clothing

I live in southeast GA and I was on the hunt for one last year. I ended up with some Black Ovis merino off camofire. Best hot weather shirts I've found. Hot weather and cotton don't mix from what I've found.

    Map Readers. Take a look.

Is this public land? How long is the access path and is it gated? If the access is too easy, I'd almost immediately rule it out.
