Adding additional strap to one stick at hunting height.

What kind of standoffs are you planning on using on your stick? I personally use the EWO brackets and they seem very solid to me. But I use the mission platform and the stick is on the opposite side of the tree to move around. So far I've had no issues with stick movement. That being said, I...

    Dropped gear

I prefer to one-stick, but I keep a hand ascender with a foot loop in my bag for just that reason...if I drop something, I can just rappel down then SRT back up real quick.

    H2 Triad Bridge

What works for me is to introduce complete slack to the bridge. Then I can take both hands and kind of bend the schwabish/prusik knots back and forth to realign the knot. It's very beneficial to be able to freely stand up on a large platform like the Mission or the Predator XL, but if you're...

If you were going to order a ultimate one stick from EWO. You would order _ _ _

15" spacing for my stick. Double step on bottom with sewn 3-step aider with 14" spacing, flat scout on top. At height, I use a Mission platform, and the stick/scout stays on the opposite side for a foot rest for moving around the tree. Just like TooheyBirdie, my feet would be killing me after a...

    Saddles for one sticking

I use the Cruzr XC and at first it would ride up a bit. I think it was because I wear my saddle into the woods and have the waist belt pretty tight to hold the weight of my pouches. Now I loosen the belt before I climb and can pull the saddle down further. Seems to have fixed the issue.

    SRT

A basic carabineer will work just fine. The roller, whether on the ascender or built into the carabineer, just makes for less friction, making it a little smoother.

    SRT

This is the one I purchase and posted in the pics above. I've been very happy with it. I know it's not a well-known brand. But I also use it strictly for climbing back to the platform. I one-stick almost all the time.

    SRT

I kinda pieced all this together. I keep it rolled up in the bottom of my pack in case I drop something from height. No need to pull the platform and stick down. The hand ascender is a cheap model I bought on amazon, but so far it has worked flawlessly. The rope was originally the "amsteel"...

    SRT

My hand ascender doesn't have the pulley, but I do use a Petzl Rollclip attached to the ascender to achieve basically the same thing. It is a little more clunky though. You can use a basic carabineer to do the same thing, but without a roller it does induce more friction, which makes it a...

Who Wants Nothing To Do With One Sticking?

This is exactly why my API 3 pack from Bass Pro has now become my diy 1-stick experimentation/education kit. Using the sticks with aiders was fine for me as long as I was going up, but coming down I was terrified because I had to "feel" my way back into the aiders.

Who Wants Nothing To Do With One Sticking?

I carry a hand ascender with an Amsteel whoopie foot loop and a Petzl Rollclip, all rolled up in the bottom of my pack. If I have to come out of the tree for any reason, I can leave the stick and platform, rappel down, then just SRT back up to the platform. Granted, this is a bit more expense...

should we even be using saddles or stands lets be honest

I personally feel more confident being able to hunt from an elevated position. Even if it's only 12-15 feet off the ground. For years I hunted out of an Ol' Man Vision climber, then upgraded to the Alumalite CTS. I still love that treestand, but I don't love carrying it around. I finally decided...

New to saddle hunting. Help please with saddle selection.........

I can't say one is better than the other, because I bought the Cruzr XC in a size 2 and it's all I've used. But I can honestly say it's so comfortable to me that I have no desire to try any others. The only criticism I have about it is that the Amsteel bridge I ordered on it had some sort of...

    Climbing foot rope?

I think mine is 3/16". It's the full bury bridge I ordered on my Cruzr XC. Had a waxy coating on it and gummed up my carabiner, so I put it to a different use. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

    Climbing foot rope?

It looks to me like it's just a simple whoopie sling with some different sizes of shrink wrap stacked for the foot loop. I started trying to climb SRT when I first got into saddle hunting, but I learned real quick I am probably the world's worst at using a throw bag. So I started one-stick...

    Platfrom

I just started using a saddle this past season, and because of work I only had a chance to actually hunt 6 days. But I did practice climbing and setting up quite a bit during the latter part of summer into fall. I ended up buying the Treehopper tree suit platform. It's light as a feather, rock...

    DIY single stick climbing

I've built a couple different sticks to play around with. I started with the API sticks from Bass Pro, and the button on one of those before any mods is exactly 1/3rd the way down from the top of the stick if I recall. I've used that formula for the others I've built and had no issues.
