Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

There are fine lines for sure which is why I wrote what I did. What is a tool and when is it simply not sporting anymore? Like climbing a tree to avoid a deer’s line of sight/avoid detection. Is that cheating?

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

I‘m not a staunch JE apologist or anything. My comment was more geared towards the technology rabbit hole. 300+FPS bows, 100yd crossbows, trail cameras, cell cameras, range finding scopes, 50x power optics, deer recovery drones, pods, etc. etc. Most don’t seem to think Scentlok works, so...

Favorite Hunting Clothing Brand (where you like the camo pattern)

I’m a fan of Sitka Open Country, but some of their best garments aren’t made in Open Country. No single net captures all the fish.

Hunts with a bow when he could use a gun though. Least I thought I heard that.

Has anyone tried the beast stick platforms?

Sorry. Didn’t know you had read it already. I’d imagine those who had them in 2002 on that thread have tried them by now. They didn’t seem to be super popular, so maybe reaching out to those guys will be more helpful. I know there are some more posts about them, but can’t know if you’ve combed...

    Multi pin vs one pin

Honestly, I don’t have a specific recommendation. I’d select for durability first. I see your bow has bridgelok. Not sure what’s available there and how secure bridgelok is. With one pin, it’s all about making sure that pin doesn’t move. (Unless it‘s a slider system).

At what distance do your kill your deer?

I rather prefer the survey…At what distance did you maim a deer? Of course, we can’t expect honesty either way. Though some will be, regardless. But folks seem eager to share tales of glory, whereas tales of stupidity are much more guarded.

    Multi pin vs one pin

Your bow will show you the way. But I have Switchback XT and Legacy Mathews bows, and for me at 29” draw and mid to high 400grain arrows, I’m very comfortable to 25yds with one pin. I’ve been shooting DWs of 60-70lbs through the years. Your bow is much faster on paper.

    Tethrd - saddle buy back

They’re a fantastic company. They do whatever it takes to make their money. Like Hawk, but more cunning.

    Tethrd - saddle buy back

Hard spin when they wouldn’t replace/refund Gen1 Predator platforms until they failed. That’s just off the top. But time has passed. 5 years maybe.

    Tethrd - saddle buy back

Yeah, it’s a business move. Makes the Eberhart saddle $46.29 though. If you’ve some junky turn in, that’s a deal if you trust the Chinese made Tethrd Saddle. But it only brings the Phantom/Phantom XL down to market value. As for the others, it’s about what a 15-20% off sale is to market...

Hmmm. $100 off like an Orion then? That is generous, lol.

    Multi pin vs one pin

Everything you wrote is of course true, but goes beyond the scope of this shooter imo. Max range was stated as 20-25yds. I think it makes sense to see what the bow does with a single pin at 25 and under then. A 5 yard shot will show what the bow does at 5 yds. High, low, on target; good to know...

    Multi pin vs one pin

Without knowing your arrow speed, it’s hard to make a recommendation. You should take shots from 5 to 25yds using a single pin and measure the drop. It’s most likely small enough that for your ranges a single pin will suit you. But possibly not. It’s all about matching equipment performance...

    Quitting coffee

Studies of Blue Zones (highest concentrations of centenarians) shows regular coffee consumption is common amongst them. I don’t think they’re drinking pots, but coffee isn’t poison either. And a heck of a lot healthier than Diet Coke.

    2tc vs one sticking

The lower tether can be a moveable aider. Then it’s more like how most people one stick, with the same drawbacks of one-sticking but none of the advantages of one-sticking or of 2TCing with a simple foot loop.
