    Rappel Rope, Friction Hitches, Tender

Two Blake’s hitches can be used to easily descend, alternate pushing down on each, one holds while the other slides. Increasing the speed of working the hitches showed that equalized pressure on both allowed them to slide at the same time, sharing the load. This is one method, device has the...

    Ascending options for one sticking?

The figure 8 is loaded the wrong way, it has a possibility of slipping up the 8 and forming a girth hitch, locking it up. Having the hitch below is a good way to keep the device tensioned, with your weight on the device, bending might affect its holding abilities. But like your picture I...

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

Both can be left tied to the rope, the Sticht is more compact, releases easily, and can be tied with just a piece of cord, and the tight eyes help to keep them from roaming around the carabiner and side loading it.

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

8mm arborist’s hitch cords work, but might need to have the covers made looser for better grabbing, some slack in the cover needs to be trapped between the eyes. 7, or 8mm Bluewater VT cord, or TRC in something a little smaller that grabs reliably.

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

Missed this post. A 8mm cord would be a good choice, heat resistance would be nice, not necessary when also using a device. Typing at the same time!

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

Are you looking for hitch cord for Elite, or for a 11mm rope?

Shifting from Ropeman 1 to hitch on 11mm tether.....suggestions that have been field tested

The Elite is actually more like 10-10.5mm, not the 9mm they state, probably too big to grab reliably on an 11mm rope.

New rappel device for small rope?

They might be referring to the Edelrid’s Pinch, coming out in a month or two.

New rappel device for small rope?

I prefer the hitch above the device, pulling up on the rope releases the hitch as the device takes the load, and also very compact.

Not meaning to open a can of worms - cross loading carabiners

Side loading tries to bend the carabiner over an object, cross loading tries to pull it apart.

Recommendation for a good eye to eye cord

I unsubscribed from both a few years ago when the bumped their rope by the foot almost by double. WesSpur is a good supplier, and my favorite is Arbsession, both go the extra mile.

Recommendation for a good eye to eye cord

I agree, except with your suggestions where to purchase, both have been bought out, use to carry any and everything needed for tree work, now only things that sell the most. Customer service not the best either.

Recommendation for a good eye to eye cord

In general, and with the adjustability of the Sticht, smaller diameter hitch cords than normal can be used.

    Learning from Saddle Hunting Accidents

I found that the crossing tightens up with a fall, taking a wrap around the tree also works, but more like a tether to advance.

Who uses the notch v3 quickly?

Maybe have the eye on the pin instead of the u shape? A plastic washer on the pin would keep it from accidentally coming off.
