Cheap Stuff that Gets the Job Done

Those small lithium battery packs are pretty handy for keeping your phone charged if you dont want to use a compass. Sometimes it helps to have a map, but it really drains your battery. I always take a small battery pack and phone cable with me. Rechargeable handwarmers are great in a hand...

    Hello from MD!

Welcome from Anne Arundel County! I would think the biggest issue with a typical range is would be allowing you to climb and shoot. Before I had property I would go to the local park and shoot, since nobody was ever there, just have to make sure you are aware of how your country treats...

I would really like to see a "hunt any tree" challenge video.

I've got a bunch of trees with poison ivy and thats about my only limitation on trees (other than being too narrow). Single stick I can jump limbs with my linemans belt/tether to get to height. I like to leave the lower limbs for cover when I can, but sometimes I still need to trim some of the...

    Rappelling Question

I looked at a few of the delta quick link options, would rather have it and not need it. I like the black Petzl delta, but it looks like the paint chips pretty easily. The regular one just looks like steel and is rated at 25kN major axis and 10kN minor, which isnt all that much more than a...

    Rappelling Question

Trying to figure out your lines in this pic, it looks like theres a lot of that neon line in the bag, but the green line also goes in there and has a prusik on it. Is that prusik attached to that neon line?

    Rappelling Question

I'll have to test that out in my yard and see how well it works. I was planning the figure eight on a bight for my tether, but might just do all in one tether/rappel line. If I'm using a quick link, I feel like a scaffold knot on the link would make more sense if its a permanent connection...

    Rappelling Question

That's my plan currently. I have two of the camelbak water bottle molle pouches laying around, courtesy of the Army. Figured I would see if I could use them for a dump pouch. I'm not sure how well 35' of the 9mm rope will fit in there, but I guess I will find out today when my order gets here :)

    Rappelling Question

I might eventually do that, I just need to find an efficient way to not have the rest of my line dangling if I do end up using it as a tether. I read on one of these threads where someone was keeping the rest of the line in a dump pouch while hunting.

    Rappelling Question

Have you had any issues with pulling the rope down with that method? That was my plan for the tether, but for the rappel line I wasnt sure if the friction would cause any issues, defintiely far less friction on a carabiner or quick link. I may just snag one of the Petzl 8mm Delta links and call...

    Rappelling Question

Oval shape or pear shape? I was looking at the Mad Rock XL steel as an option, but its still a carabiner

    Rappelling Question

That's what I was thinking, I may just grab a quick link or a triangle that's meant for climbing and just call it a day. I know Mad Rock has a few steel carabiners, but they would probably still have the same issues with side loading.

    Rappelling Question

I'm brand new to saddle hunting and haven't rock climbed in ages, but do have some experience rappelling from the military and other activities more recently. After a grueling hike through the swamps of the MD Eastern Shore with a climber, I decided that I needed to take the plunge into saddle...
