One Sticking without a Madrock Safeguard

Here is what I have drawn up. Ignore the pink color. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One Sticking without a Madrock Safeguard

Thanks Bigfoot, I appreciate the drawing. I haven’t had my hands on a real hitch hiker and assumed the slots were symmetrical and on 45°. I will try and get something made soon and when I do I will post it for all to see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One Sticking without a Madrock Safeguard

Also Bigfoot, did you use a 45° angle for your slots? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One Sticking without a Madrock Safeguard

I also have drawn up my own hitch hiker x style device. Really simple to machine but haven’t had time to make one. I looked at the hh2 before I got my rope wrench but it was bulkier than I wanted and got the rope wrench on sale. Whenever work slows up I may try mill it. Sent from my iPhone...

Yes I did typo that. I had a brain fart as noted right after someone else called me on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exactly on doing what gives you peace of mind. I run a 1/4 full burry amsteel bridge with 1/4 amsteel prusik. I have no desire to run a second bridge because I am confident in my equipment. But if I was uneasy I’d run one no problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That is how I use my grillon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A safer choice would be the petzl i’d or petzl rig. Both can actually be locked closed but are twice the size of the others. Used by rescue teams as a progress capture or lowering device. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

“Correction” safeguard is madrocks springless version. Thanks for catching that. I had a brain fart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Madrock

The “spring” in the safeguard and grigri and most other mechanical belay devices keeps the device open, which means the rope will slide in and out both ways easily until weight is sharply applied to the device. The lifeguard and petzl grillon have no spring, so when any weight is applied to the...

    Hawk stick platform

Valid point on the number of moves. I do some srt, so I have all the gear to give it a shot. I’m lucky to have 300 acres of family land that is mixed ag field and forest, just me and my cousin hunt there. Most all presets but we don’t want to drill holes in the trees for bolts or steps and we...

    Hawk stick platform

Now that my season is over I am going to try one sticking with it. I know the daisy chain isn’t the easiest way for one sticking. I am a short (5’6”) dude with short stumpy legs, so one sticking doesn’t net me much height each move. I still want to give it a shot. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Hawk stick platform

I have one I used this year as well on top of a mini stick. It needs bolts and washers and grip tape. Otherwise it is just fine for my purpose. I attach the stick with a homemade 1/8 amsteel daisy chain, using the truckers hitch method. Never a kick out and am pretty sure I’d have to kick the...

Cruzr xc vs latitude classic 2

Thanks for the info. I will give it a shot, the price was right either way. So if it doesn’t work out I can pass it along without too much grief. I did read they made the “2” bigger. Not much info on these floating around.

Cruzr xc vs latitude classic 2

What size waist do you have? Just picked up a classic secondhand. I know it’s been said that the bridge loops could come around farther to the front. As in the overall length of the saddle could be longer. I’m a 34 in pants with a belly and a flat butt. Came from a modded sit drag which was...

    New to saddle hunting

I got my floating d model last week. I got the size 1 and am a 34” waist. It fits good and I much prefer it to the rch and sit drag I had been using. I climb drt and srt and find it way more comfortable than the rch to climb in. It’s stiff as a board because it’s new but hope to get it well worn...
