    Vortex

I have the vortex glass pack, and have been using it a few years now. I like the size and side pockets on it - I keep my wind detector and crossbow cocker in the sides. It also has a zip in the back, nice for places where you have a paper tag. My only complaint is that the hook and elastic piece...

    Rain gear

If you're looking for cheap, frogg toggs work pretty good, though not the quietest.

    Wrapping a platform

I went through this last year and tried several different options including spray on Truck bed liner, plasti dip, and paracord wrap (cord wrap was more slippery than I thought it would be). What ended up working best for silence and grip was some camo hockey tape I bought off Amazon. Works...

    Don't PlastiDip Your Platform

I bought a can of the spray stuff last week, just haven't had time to put it on yet. Hopefully better.

    Don't PlastiDip Your Platform

Wanted to share a recent DIY fail of mine in case anyone was thinking of this. I was thinking plasti dip would make my platform quieter and maybe even add grip. I did 3 coats and then a camo rattle can job. It wasn't any quieter, got way more slippery, and started peeling really bad after 2...

Looking for a 2nd (safety) opinion

It just seemed close to the minimum since it's right on the 60% number. But I guess within spec is within spec.

Looking for a 2nd (safety) opinion

I looked at that one - a little worried I'm on the bottom end of the 60-80% diameter standard for a friction knot with my 10 mm rope...

Looking for a 2nd (safety) opinion

Thanks, I may go that route. Only thing I don't like about it is I'm trying to avoid a second knot in my prusik. Gotta decide between this and the one with the sewn eyes.

Looking for a 2nd (safety) opinion

Wow, ok I guess I missed that. Can someone recommend what I should use instead? I'm trying to get something with built in splices to cut down on the number of knots.

Looking for a 2nd (safety) opinion

Hey all, I reread all the ropeman threads and decided to swap for a prusik on my tether (not looking to rehash whether that's necessary in this thread). I'm looking at prusik cord, and just wanted to get a second opinion on what prusik cord would be best to use. My tether is made from this stuff...

    Anyone hunt Fort Lee?

Haven't looked into AP Hill. Quantico is super easy with check in and no arbitrary rules like lots of other places. I've hunted there the last 2 years exclusively even though its almost 3 hours away for that reason. Also much less crowded than lots of public stuff. A 5 day hunting pass is $5...

    Anyone hunt Fort Lee?

Looked into it this year, but never made it out there. Seems like they are pretty liberal with check in, doe days etc compared to many other installations. I'm interested, because its slightly closer for me than Quantico. Are you active duty?

    Newbie from VA

Howdy all, I'm in Norfolk, this was my 2nd season in a saddle. I picked up one of those Notch saddles when they were marked down to $50, so will be in a new rig next year. I've had a little success hunting on base in Quantico, but that's a long drive for me - would be interested in talking...
