NYSH F4 and FCX (safeguard/grigri killer?)

I'd like to revisit this post a bit if I can. I've read the comments and can agree to some extent with everyone's thinking. I'm currently using a Madrock SG for my one sticking duties and its fine by all accounts. However, I'm looking very hard at the F4 for a couple of reasons. 1. By...

    EWO Kneepads

Thats awesome to hear. I'm done for the year as I got sidelined with a jacked up ankle. I'll be sure to add a pair of these to my kit for next fall.

    EWO Kneepads

I've been looking for a purpose made kneepad that isn't 75 plus dollars. Right now i'm rocking a cheapo from Rural King that does the job, but they don't stay in place as well as I'd like. I will definitely pick up a pair of these from EWO.

    Saddle Advice

I have no experience with a tethrd saddle myself. I hear if you're going to go with one of theirs, definitely get the XL version as its far more comfortable. That said, I bought a Cruzr XC saddle and I can't imagine a saddle being anymore comfortable. I'm very happy with my decision. I have...

First deer out of my saddle....

Thanks everyone. I'm beyond grateful for arrowing this deer. To be honest, its been a helluva trying year for myself and family. To say I needed something good to happen this fall is an understatement. Its also really nice to have a good buck on the ground before the PA orange army and...

First deer out of my saddle....

Thanks man! You got that right. I pride myself in that its been a really long time since I made a bad shot, my fault or not. I've replayed this in my head a bunch of times and I can say I wouldn't have done anything differently. It was just a bad shot and I'm pretty positive he moved while I...

First deer out of my saddle....

Finally, after my first season in a saddle and a couple of adjustments on tree selection, it came together. I ran into this buck Saturday morning but he was out of range and had a girlfriend with him. He was a very vocal deer and seemed on the ornery side so I got aggressive trying to get him...

My one sticking and saddle hunting update after almost a full season.

Thanks buddy. I'm pretty fanatical and hardcore about my setups, even when I was in a climber or hang on. I always looked for ways to make things easier or more efficient. My whole view on any kind of setup is simple, safe and easy so I look at every aspect of my gear. I've learned a lot...

My one sticking and saddle hunting update after almost a full season.

I forgot to mention. If I stick with this setup next year, I will be ordering the ultimate lower step to replace the standard step on the One stick. I have a 13 boot and would welcome the extra room of the step, but most importantly, I want to push that aider further away from the tree to see...

My one sticking and saddle hunting update after almost a full season.

This might be redundant, or maybe no one cares.. haha. I thought I would give an update on a newbs perspective on one sticking out of a saddle, what I learned, and where I think i'm headed. I'm writing this in hopes that it spurs good suggestions/convo, and hopefully it helps someone else with...

    Single vs 2 Panel Saddle

I have no experience with a two panel, but I do currently use a Cruzr XC. I could be really wrong, but I think single panels are much more sensitive to fit and setup in the tree. I struggled even with the XC for a bit until I learned that one, my saddle was a size too big for me and two, I...

The Dangers of Short Static Falls

This has been a good discussion and I wanted to chime in concerning one sticking as that is my preferred method. I also want thoughts from you all that may be more knowledgeable on all of this. I for one climb with both my tether and linemans rope. I climb a step or maybe two, depending on...

    Saddle pain issue

Hey all. I decided to contact Cruzr and I explained, in detail what I'm experiencing. The gentleman I spoke with said it is almost a guarantee the size 3 saddle is too big for me. The amazing part is they are going to help me out and get me the right size. I'll report back what I find once...

    Saddle pain issue

I know much of this has been covered in various topics here but I can't find anything that matches my issue. I have a Cruzr XC saddle, which I think everyone bills as a very comfortable saddle. Overall, I echo that and love hunting out of it. It wasn't until season started and I was putting...

First hunt out of the saddle

I'm not usually one to get all giddy or wound up quickly over something but this I wanted to share. I had some time yesterday afternoon to finally get my first sit of the year in out of the saddle. I have a heavily bedded area across the road from the house that I snuck into around 3PM. My...

Saddle Death… Stay safe out there.

One thing that always strikes me about many of the climbing methods that seem to be catching on/mainstream. Some seam awfully complicated. I'm not knocking one method over another, but some of these, especially the rope climbing methods, just seem like they're asking for trouble for most...

    Mixed reads on Madrock Safeguard

Makes sense. I see people clip stuff into their bridge biner line back bands as well as backing up the madrock with a prussic above it and clipping into their biner. But you're point on the load and not being able to free it makes perfect sense.

Saddle Death… Stay safe out there.

Bingo. I climb, hunt and rappel on my madrock safeguard. I do this for a lot of reasons, one being as you said, I can just rappel down if things get sideways or a drop my stick, etc. The other big reason for me was this. I'm a minimalist and prefer things to be as simple as possilble when my...

    Mixed reads on Madrock Safeguard

Thanks buddy. Curious, couldn't you clip the loop into your bridge biner and accomplish the same? Just thinking out loud...

    Mixed reads on Madrock Safeguard

This is exactly what I've been dwelling over the last few days. I have complete confidence in the Safeguard but I always think of ways to back things up. That said, I'm a little confused by the Petzl diagram shared. I see a caribiner clipped to the loop once its passed through the biner that...
