    Not high enough?

Saddle and hang on stand hunting have many similarities but I notice I get busted from behind more. Why? It's because every movement i.e. back, leg, head, etc used to be covered by the tree. In a saddle, your back trail is wide open. And while seeing behind you is much easier in a saddle, every...

Giving out your number via trail cam - is this a thing?

It looks like a Russian paratrooper from the first Red Dawn. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

    Gear you liked/disliked 2022

Not a big new gear season for me but... Liked: Tactacam Reveal X...have two and both work well in spotty reception areas. Liked: Rage Hypodermic...nice cuts On the fence: Scentlok Alpha Elite bib and jacket. Super warm, sitting in 17 degree MI gun season. The bib leg zippers are too short...

    Ghillie and (cough) skirt/kilt

I've had same thoughts on some beat up and cockleburr-full ghillie suits. A kilt would be easier to walk in and out with suit on and it may not collect so many burrs. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

    Dead Ash Trees

That's super iffy. One of my stands is 10 ft up in a dead ash. It goes against every good sense of mine BUT it's the only tree in a prime bedding area. It's been dead 3 yrs. I agree with the others, the degree of decay varies. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

Don't knock it until you try it

Toasted wheat bread, fried eggs, and peanut butter. An almost perfect combo of fat, carbs, and protein for a deer hunt. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

How are you getting deer in your truck when solo?

I use an old boat winch and pulley. The boat winch is mounted to the tailgate and the pulley is at the front of the bed. Tie to deer and crank. 3 back surgeries and a hernia surgery = use the big head Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk

What's the easiest way to read a book in a tree in a saddle?

I lean on the thinner paperbacks for deer season. For example, a Louis L'amour Westerns fits in saddle bags and pockets easily. I can bend a page and stuff in a pocket quickly when deer come in. Most of these paperbacks I get from library sales so, if they get ruined, no big deal. I've read on...
