    Make it make sense

I think 400s with 175-200gr up front would be about right. 600s at 30" sounds crazy weak for 47# on a bow that's cut close to center. I don't even shoot 600s out of my 45# longbows that are cut way before center. The easiest and first thing to do if you think you're weak: build the strike...

    Saddle vs stand

I love everything about hunting in a saddle except shooting out of it with my longbows and recurves. The bridge gets in the way for me most times.

    Rope mod for platforms

I use a regular ole Amsteel rope on my EDP. 1/4" cheap stuff with a loop spliced into one end. I just toss it around the tree and then wrap it around the button twice, going behind the rope. Works fine for me.

    Eagle's Flight quiver question

The rough velcro is a perfect place to keep wind check stuff. I live in cotton farming country, and cotton is about ready to pick by bow season, so I pick a bud on the way in and rub it into the velcro to peel out strands to check the wind. I reckon the suburban hunters and northern or western...

    Simmons Safari Shark

A quality sharpening steel was the biggest breakthrough I had with sharpening those heads. Often times, it's all you need. I shoot the older glue on version of those and they fly very well. Haven't put one through a deer yet, but I expect them to work very well. Good luck in the woods!

    LWCG Arrowhead broadhead

The ad says "razor sharp" Any of y'all ever shaved with an aluminum razor? Just asking....

    LWCG Arrowhead broadhead

Better you've never tried to sharpen it either. You need steel shot for that

    LWCG Arrowhead broadhead

Throw your tractor away when it needs an oil change. Shoot the ox when it needs a drink. We're making progress now.

    LWCG Arrowhead broadhead

Personally, I think it's ignorant to have a broadhead that you can't sharpen.

    The INGWE 4.8lb Hang-On Stand...Anyone?

It was a very well done belt hook, though. :grinning:

    The INGWE 4.8lb Hang-On Stand...Anyone?

Exactly. All the looming uncertainty isn't worth the weight savings for me. BUT....I'm as guilty as wanting to try new gear as the next guy. And options are always good. It keeps things progressing and interesting. I remember working at Summit when Lone Wolf came out with the cast platforms...

    The INGWE 4.8lb Hang-On Stand...Anyone?

I handled one at the expo. As a very new owner of a LWCG .5, I can say the Ingwe feels more dinky overall and "less robust" than the .5 which I guess would be expected. The seat pad is thinner than the .5 The stand tapers sharper and is narrower near the tree than the .5, and IMO this makes...

    Choosing a trad vane....

I've used the Bearpaw feathers for a while now and they are great feathers. Ive used every brand on the market and they are in the top two for quality for me. 4" will serve you fine on carbon and aluminum with any half decent tune. You're set to go!

    Solid color pants recommendations

D!ckies 874 work pants for early season. Big Bill 18oz Merino wool for the rest. The only "hunting pants" I own.

Off season- Just curious what do most of you do between Deer seasons??

Traditional archery 3D shoots....disappearing on my motorcycle....squirrel hunting/scouting for next season....air rifle field target....fixing old junk to drive next deer season.....too much crap going on for me to ever be a good deer hunter LOL

    30-30 help me decide

A thinner blade front sight from Skinner is the way to go if you are using any kind of iron sights. Mine had a bead and was just too big.

    30-30 help me decide

The Marlin is the ticket if you have to have a scope. Be advised that the Remington built ones can be garbage, been there and done that. The Winchester is lighter and slimmer and really shines with open sights. Personally, I'd avoid the see-thru mounts. I've pulled off a half dozen sets and...

Possibles bags and other outdoor leather works

I really like Obenaufs Heavy Duty LP over the rest. It seems to last longer and really keeps the leather hydrated without being greasy. I also use it as a cold weather patch lube in my flintlocks. Purty good stuff IMO

    Tethrd pack

I wish it had a waistbelt. If for nothing else to make it clip around the tree nice. And you can't really talk about carrying any kinda weight without a waistbelt. Plus they just help keep the pack from shifting around. It's a nice pack but it just doesn't look setup well to carry a platform...
