    Lets talk scrapes

That is super helpful! Thank you. I have tended to avoid the piney areas in the place I hunt - partially because parts of the pines can be so thick as to be unhuntable, literally you can't get in there and hang anywhere. But the pics you posted give me an idea what to look for.

    Lets talk scrapes

And these primary scrapes are in thick cover? When we talk about thick cover, can we flesh out exactly what we mean? I only ask bc in some places I hunt there’s so much thickness in the understory that i can barely stand upright and walk thru it - I will find heavy trails and small rubs in...

    Lets talk scrapes

Question: do deer in southeast scrape year round, like community scrapes? I have so far only found scrapes leading up to and during the rut. I’ve been trying to keep my eyes peeled…. But I wonder if the community scrapes don’t open up down here because of the low deer density.

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

AND I do think ultimately, even if those things helped 5% or something, that is worth doing for anyone who has the time and desire.

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

But do we know to what extent, if any, those things “worked”? Were they actually helpful - or was he a great woodsman and hunter independent of those scent mitigation techniques? If he was always, for example, hunting deer south of his position with a N wind... did it make any difference that he...

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

If anyone knows of accounts of techniques and styles frontiersmen and Native Americans used to hunt, I'm super curious to learn more on their methods - and in particular, how they dealt with their scent. I would not be surprised if climbing trees to higher than 20' was common to ambush deer. I...

Anyone use John Eberharts scent control methods?

I do think the anti-scent control crowd have the upper hand from a logical standpoint. Because the burden of proof lies on the pro-scent control crowd to prove X or Y works - which they can’t “prove”. It’s obvious that using certain clothes, bathing in scent-free soap, climbing to 20 or 30+’...

Post season scouting, How's it going?

got about 5mi in this morning. took advantage bigly of the cool front that moved in yesterday and enjoyed the cool crisp morning. mostly i walked a swamp edge in an area i've scouted a couple weeks ago and more thoroughly walked out about 3-4 drainages that cut from the swamp up into the...

Does anyone have a book or videos they recommend for a complete beginner who knows nothing about fishing? I’m surrounded by some of the best fishing in the country and wanna learn but have no IRL people I know who fish. and as stupid as it sounds I seriously don't know anything.... I keep...

I wonder if stealth strip on the main parts would be enough to keep em quiet. They are undoubtedly quieter than my one-stick, though - gosh it was mortifying whenever my madrock or carabiner clanked on it...
