    Favorite hunting knife

My go-to the last few years has been my Wyoming knife and Buck Omni hunter. I use the gutless method. Wyoming knife to go around the legs and split the skin from the inside. Buck for the actual skinning. I also use a Havalon, but find myself reaching for the Buck more often than not.

How long to get out of the tree and walking back?

I've timed myself a couple of times this year. 12-13 minutes pretty consistently. Remove arrow and lower bow. Remove gear hanger strap and put it away. Remove tether and put it away. Rappel down a couple of feet and remove my platform and hook on the back of my saddle. Rappel to the bottom...

favorite deer jerky seasoning mix or from scratch recipe?

I've had really good results with a bunch of the different Hi Mountain pre-mixed jerky seasoning. Like @Nutterbuster I add extra black pepper (fresh ground is the best) usually after I put it on the drying tray. Still looking for a good diy recipe. Always seemed kinda bland when I made my...

    Meat Grinders

I went with the #8 MEAT! this year. Put 2 deer through it so far. I trimmed the fat, but left everything else. It never even slowed down. Just made a 25 pound batch of breakfast sausage, and I think this size will be perfect for my 3-4 deer per year. And I'm 99% sure that LEM grinding...

    Ideas for a gear hanger?

That's true... but I keep an "armadillo head" in my quiver, so there's room to hook the Hero clip there (on the hood of my quiver).

    Ideas for a gear hanger?

Hero clip works fine. I was ordering some amsteel stuff and just got to looking at the 3d printed bow hangers. I’m a member of Saddlehunter, sometimes we like to fix what ain’t broke…

    Ideas for a gear hanger?

I bought one of these Nite Ize CamJam from Lowe's. Tied a few alpine butterfly knots spaced about 8 inches apart. Added a couple of s-biners and a hero clip. Thought about replacing the hero clip with a 3d printed bow hanger this year, but never got around to it. No complaints.

    New Gear for 2023, Go!

I keep waiting for somebody to come out with something as versatile as the Stratus. Windproof but not heavily insulated, so you can wear it when it's 60, or throw a layer under and a vest on top when it's 30.

    What does your arrow cost?

Little less than $30/per if I bought new. Gold Tip XT arrows with Exodus heads. Been using the same arrows and heads for several years though. Stumbled on 26 Gold Tip Hunters and Velocity XT's for $50 earlier this year, so.... I start thinking I need to build a new set of arrows or I wanna try...

    Trail cam Batteries

That's what I was thinking. Has anyone tried these with the reveal gen 1 without modification?

    Trail cam Batteries

My bad, mine are just the plain reveal gen 1. Website says they will NOT work.

    Trail cam Batteries

Mine are the gen 1 reveal x, so I don't think they will work.

    Trail cam Batteries

Looks like those boxes are sold out now. (Saddlehunter effect?) I was looking at the HME solar boxes for my Tactacam, but I'm not sure if I'll have to change the end to a 4.0mm x 1.7mm? Definitely going to have to find a different solution this year with the price of lithiums....

How many cams do you run?

Care to share any details on how you build your battery packs? I was looking at getting some premade ones by HME/Stealth to keep from replacing batteries every year.

How many cams do you run?

I don't really care for the phrase either, but what verbiage would you prefer?

How many cams do you run?

I ran 8 last year. 4 Reveal cell cams, and 4 Brownings on about 500 acres of private land. With the price of lithium batteries, I'm debating even putting them out this year.

    Looking for your broadhead opinions

I switched from mechanicals to QAD Exodus when my kids started bow hunting so we would all be shooting the same head. It’s been 9-10 years and I’m still shooting the same heads I bought back then. If the blades are messed up after a shot, I use them for practice heads. If not, I touch ‘em up...
