How do you confirm a scrape is a community scrape?

Large community scrapes can be almost anywhere depending on travel patterns. One of the most consistent ones on a farm I hunt is along a river bank and rarely ever gets visited during the day. Numerous deer will visit under the cover of darkness per camera intel. I like trying to find a...

    Less than 4 months

Till opening day. Looks like Sept 1 falls on a Sunday....so no bird hunting interference this year.

    Aerial archery

I have spiral wrapped. It's easier to use a full feather height and not chop it or put it on a burner. 3 four inch work well. 4 slow it down even more. Get some judo condors and have fun.

Fess up, who hasn't shot their bow since last season ended?

I shoot a few times a week, mostly with a trad bow. I had arrows for my compound come in yesterday. I fletched and cut two last night. I'll start tuning this weekend.

M4 benelli or m4 clone as a turkey gun?

Why would it be "too much"?

Places to get 'trial' shafts and arrows

Forget that noise. I just ordered arrows for my new compound. Checked the spine chart...yup, settles in perfectly at a 300. Gold Tip Hunter XT, $83 on Amazon. I've shot them most of my life and generally lose them before I break one...and that's usually by shooting it with another arrow. If...

Wood is easier than most think.

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

If I were to get surprised, it'd most likely happen at my 3-5 positions...but that changes depending where your feet are. I setup everything hard off my left side....particularly with a trad bow. Compound and I like keeping the tree between me and the target as the bow stays vertical. Rarely...

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

Give me a tree close to a holly and that's where I'll generally be. Just enough cover and green all year.

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

I'm going to say somewhere between 12-15'. Definitely no higher.

That thick and I'm probably ground hunting.

    Saddle Tree Setup Discussion

I'm not worried about my 6 position. It's not hard to take a peak every now and then. I slide the tether to my right which allows more range of motion to the back side. As you can see, a platform can limit your motion. That's why I prefer the ROS. I'm not climbing anything like a @tailgunner...

    Standard, small, micro?

Chances are your arrow falls cleanly into one of the size categories. Unless you're going with a heavy build, not sure how much "test kit" is needed. I kinda feel like it's an unnecessary step if you have a good idea what your spine range is. Then trim to fit....or not. Gold Tip blems from...

Questions about saddles and longer traditional bows

Has never been an issue. Two years ago is when I finally got my first platform. I still prefer a ROS. As for the last question.....shoot'em inside 5 hours. I'm not spending 10 hrs in a tree. Promise.

Places to get 'trial' shafts and arrows

Safari Tuff just released a shaft and component system. You can order anything individually.

Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

Make sure you wear a TIGHT fitting mask. Feather dust will destroy your lungs. Any type of straight clamp can hold the feather....think of a long hinge....that is what is on my grinder, mounted on a sliding rail.

WTB Cheap quiver for my recurve

What kind? I have a couple I don't use, but they're hard for me to let go...lol

Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

I'm not always happy with the edge left by the burner. Too slow and you burn too deep, too fast and you can fold the feather and get it a touch uneven. It's probably just me, but I find it easier to just chop and stick. My feather burner is an old classic though so I'll never part with it.

Can we start a communal turkey feathers collection/market thread?

I use a Jo Jan jig. I chop more feathers than I burn. They seem to come out a little cleaner. At least for me.
