    Screamer questions

That’s what I thought too. I guess my only concern would be if the tether were to slip down while moving up and then you take a fall. That could potentially be bad

    Screamer questions

I have a few questions on using a screamer while one sticking. 1st question, would I even need one if I’m not climbing above my tether? I don’t have a climbing background but I’ve looked at several fall force calculators and it seems like I’d have to have the tether at waist level or lower...

Bump. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I read over this whole thread. I can see where slack could be an issue but if you manage it, is there really an issue with say a foot of slack? I've one sticked a while and made sure to take out any slack but never measured how much I had. I just tried it while monitoring the slack and never had...

    Using Amsteel for Distel

Does anyone use Amsteel for friciton hitches like Distel or Swabisch? I have a 10.5mm Teufelberger rope as my tether. I wrapped some 1/4" amsteel around in a distel hitch and it seems to bite good but release good as well. Any concerns about using it for this application? It's easy to splice

    Girth hitching with carabiner

which is why I came here and not Facebook. Those groups are mostly a joke. I’m here trying to be safety conscious.

    Girth hitching with carabiner

isn’t force of a fall and force on the carabiner not two different things. For example edge loading a carabiner like on the edge of a rock would apply more pressure making it weaker..then add a smaller force fall and the force to break it can add up. I’m not looking at making a 16kn fall, but...

    Girth hitching with carabiner

I’d rather climb with my tether too. So many people talk about safety and use a lineman’s belt but they’re not a fall prevention device. Yeah they can help prevent a fall but I don’t think they’re as safe as a tether

    Girth hitching with carabiner

It’s not about the time although with some trees that can add up, but also movement. It takes quite a bit more movement than simply unclipping and clipping back in. It’s just more of a pain. as for when deer move, I have them move early afternoon quite a bit. I’ve had them come through...

    Girth hitching with carabiner

That’s the reason I posted. If it is cross loading then wouldn’t the carabiner I posted be 16kn rated? That’s assuming it’s crossloaded directly on the sides too. A slight cross loading should be even stronger. The only other problem would be an open gate which you have to worry about with...

    Girth hitching with carabiner

I think it would be fine too but I don’t have a climbing background either. That carabiner above is pretty strong. 16kn on the minor axis isn’t far away from most typical carabiners on the major axis

    Girth hitching with carabiner

I’ve heard both sides of doing this. One side says it’s cross loading and another says it’s fine as long as the tree isn’t small enough to load it on an edge or as long as it’s not on a knot in the tree. I can’t seem to find a solid confirmation that this is wrong or right. So I found this...

    Fleece saddle question

I’ve been just girth hitching it. It’s holding on 1/4” amsteel. I keep slight tension on my rch with a prusik too. I’ll go check this out and probably redo it but just been busy hunting

    Fleece saddle question

Does there happen to be a video on this? How do you run the amsteel through the channel then double girth?

    Sewing on a Climbing Harness

I’ve recently bought a petzel gym harness to replace my Black Diamond Coulier. I like it ok but like all harnesses, they lack linesman’s loops. I bought some 2” tubular webbing and ran the harness waist belt through that, then bought a sewn sling and ran than under the tubular webbing. It’s...

    The ultimate ultralight saddle?

So what's the consensus on this? Bridge or no bridge? I really like this idea and plan on making one of these. Also, when doing the sheet knot are you guys just using webbing slings or amsteel?
