    Helmets

No, not lots of machismo just down home common sense. Has someone been killed from a falling branch, sure. Do the infinitesimally small odds of it happening to you warrant wearing a helmet? Most reasonable people would say no. You probably have better odds of choking on you lunch.

Anybody gone back to mobile stands?

Yup, and you should too. 28 years mobile with a stand, 4 with a saddle, now back to a stand exclusively every hunt. I just didn’t see the advertised benefits of a saddle and can actually get in more trees with my .5 than i can a saddle. Well, maybe i should say i can actually get into, draw a...

Who would you rather hunt with?? Infalt or Eberhart? Just curious!

Dan 100% Dan does in fact sell beast sticks and tree stands but not once in his tactics videos does he say, "You have to have a Beast Stand to hunt this way". He is showing people how to find bucks in their beds, nothing less nothing more. He doesn't care if you do it in a stand, saddle, or on...

    Saddle scent control

Big fan of milkweed. It’s amazing watching those little tufts drift around on currents going here and there and settling someplace completely different than you would have guessed.

    Saddle scent control

Then you made a very poor choice to hunt that particular spot at the time you did. Unless of course you expected the deer to be coming from that fourth direction. Either way, there isn’t a thing you’re going to do to prevent a deer from smelling you if it ends up 20 yards downwind of you. So...

'Fess Up, Who Hunts out of a Prius?

You been watching John Eberhardt videos by chance? lol

How often do you hunt out of a treestand?

Yup, i’m not saying NEVER hunt out of a saddle. I still use mine. Just saying there are definitely a lot of scenarios where a stand is your best option.

    Gear Hanger choice

Length of paracord girth hitched to tree with a hero clip on a tiny prussik so i can slide it up and down to my liking on where i want my bow to sit. Have yet to see a better way to do it.

Who has removed leg straps? Any regrets?

If someone is climbing trees 20 ft up and doesn’t know the risks of falling theyre likely going to end up on the short end of the stick anyways leg straps aren’t going to somehow save them. Little kids climb trees every single day. People get way to overly cautious nowadays. With a tight...

    BUCK POOL AT WORK

I’m literally the only hunter i know of where i work. Really not sure what people do nowadays tbh. I refer to a lot of people as “indoors people”. But as some have mentioned i have zero competition for weeks off during the fall.

Hunt the wind. It’s the ONLY way to assure the deer don’t get wind of you and your saddle.

How often do you hunt out of a treestand?

Yep, we can disagree for sure it’s what makes America great afterall. That being said, i’ve never hunted a spot with my saddle that I couldn’t also use my .5. But I have hunted in spots with my .5 i couldn’t have with a saddle. A nice mature cedar on the edge of a cattail swamp comes to mind...

How often do you hunt out of a treestand?

Those who ONLY hunt out of a saddle are missing out. So many advantages to a treestand in so many areas. The “my saddle can go anywhere” thing is a myth. My .5 is much more versatile than my saddle set up and as such gets used probably ten times what my saddle platform gets used.

'Fess Up, Who Hunts out of a Prius?

Just averaged 24 mpg with my full sized F150 fully loaded down with gear driving 1200 miles all over the Ottawa and Nicolet National Forests in Northern WI and the UP. I’m good with that as i don’t see a Prius or any low clearance vehicle getting into ANY of the spots we were. And this was...

Anyone else hunting with an E-Bike this year?

Less motorcycles on public land would be a good start. It’s not talking down to people to tell them what they don’t want to hear. Telling someone to put the phone and tech down and learn woodsmanship and they’ll be a better hunter is sound advice. Doesn’t matter it hurts their feelings.

Anyone else hunting with an E-Bike this year?

Oh you’re right, hunting is NOT about getting venison and getting out into the woods to leave all that tech behind. Man, how did the indians ever kill anything and survive without e bikes, cell phones, laser range finders, airbows, cell cams and First Lite camo???? Nah, you give me the break...

Anyone else hunting with an E-Bike this year?

My prize is self reliance (definitely a concept lost on most nowadays), solitude, well earned venison, and the satisfaction of leaving all the stupid distractions and technology behind so i can become immersed in the wilderness which is what hunting is all about. Those of you riding in on an...

Anyone else hunting with an E-Bike this year?

No, this only applies to able bodied guys who are afraid of breaking a sweat so they use an electric motor cycle (they’re not bikes) to drive around. For what it’s worth, i don’t use a single thing you mention to hunt, not one. I mean scents, people still think those work???? As for cell cams...

Give one tip on deer hunting

Yup, amazing how quiet they can come in even when you’re paying attention. My buck last year was not there one second and when i turn my head back towards the cattails he was just there, standing on the edge of them. I was so surprised because i just looked there at that spot a few seconds...
