    Best ratchet strap for ROS

I've had zero issues with a boat buckle OCB. As someone mentioned, there is a sweet spot to get it tight. I don't like the idea of a ratchet strap because of the noise. It's hard enough to get set up quietly without sounding like a mechanic wrenching on something!

    Dual Tether Ropes

If you're using the proper rope for your tether, and if it's in good condition, I totally trust a single tether. Just inspect it every time to make sure it hasn't been accidentally cut or anything.

    Pouch for ROS?

I have them in my backpack until I get to the tree. Then I hang them from a carabineer on my saddle for the climb.

Multiple Climbing Methods and Sets of Gear

WE steps (8 pack gets me as high as I need to be). Five Ameristeps on an OCB strap is my ROS. Gear hooks on an OCB strap to hang bow and pack. And of course, my saddle.

Multiple Climbing Methods and Sets of Gear

I've been saddle hunting for 4 seasons, now, and still use the same setup I started with. As cool as some of the other methods look, I have resisted the urge to try the other stuff because what I have works and I've gotten familiar with using it, even in the dark. I like keeping it simple, even...

    Wild edge stepp lovers

I made a hook attached to the strap on the bag. I hang it from the rope of each top step as I go up. Beats having the bag hanging on yourself all the way up.

    What's your time to hunt?

WE Steps, Ring of steps, OCB strap with bow and gear hooks. By the time I get completely and truly settled in, (up the tree, back pack hung up, bow hung up) it's probably close to 30 minutes. It would be great if it was quicker but I feel if I rush, I'm taking chances of making mistakes which...

Question on switching to ring of steps

I do the heel toe thing you mentioned just like you said on my top WE Step.

    Ropeman Safety

For me, I use the Ropeman for going up and down. The backup hitch is tensioned once at hunting height. At that point I don't do much adjusting. Maybe minor adjustment for amount of lean, which is easy enough to move the Ropeman and hitch in small increments alternating between the two. Once I'm...

    Ropeman Safety

That's the exact thing I was about to mention. Since I use my linesman rope connected to a Prussic about 18" above my Ropeman, I have equal tension on the Ropeman and my backup Prussic at all times once at hunting height. The way I have it set up means zero slide of the Prussic. I'm more likely...

    Ditching sticks

Trust me. I hear ya. I scratch my head for awhile the first time out every season! Sometimes I think because one thinks it's more complicated than it actually is. The tendency is to over think it.

    Ditching sticks

Follow the drawing on the bag and practice. It gets easier after you have done it enough times

    Ropeman Safety

Your Ropeman is the one that is easier on your rope. I see no wear on my tether from my Ropeman which is same style as yours. In fact, the area of my tether that goes around tree has more wear from tree bark. At some point, I may swap ends on my tether to put the fresh, unused end around tree. I...

    Ditching sticks

Yep, using the stock ropes they come with. The more they get used and stretched out, the better they get. I get why people don't like the fiddle factor. I get a little frustrated myself sometimes. But I still like them due to the portability enough to make it worth it to me.

    Ditching sticks

Have you considered Wild Edge Steps? Yeah, they have a fiddle factor. But after using them for a while, it becomes second nature. I carry an 8 pack of them in my backpack and hardly know they're there.

    Ropeman Safety

Personally, I've never had my Ropeman even think about sliding. But, I don't suppose it's impossible. If you're wanting a Prussic to back it up, most will tell you to have it above the Ropeman so in case the Ropeman damages the rope, the Prussic is on undamaged rope. I have the Ropeman...

2TC with both feet and a lineman?

I attempted something nearly identical to what you described, including the connection between the feet. I was sure it would work. PITA!!! By the time my feet were 3 feet off the ground, I was exhausted and sweating like a pig! I went back to my WE Steps and never looked back. Maybe just because...

    ROS VS PLATFORM

ROS 100%. Have never tried a platform and probably won't. Just wear boots with a good stiff sole and a heel to be able to hook your heels on the steps. I have no comfort issues.

    Primal vs wild edge?

The ropes on WE steps will cam down tighter than anything else ever will provided you do it correctly. IMHO
