Try wicked ridge g3. Light and low cost. It does have a wide spread so you have to work getting limbs around tree.

Things you've learned (no gear allowed)

    Shooting in the saddle

Forgive me if I add my opinion to this thread. I shot a spike buck with a Wicked Ridge G3 crossbow at 20 yards and it drop right at the bottom of the tree I was set up in. Based on the lay of the land and some tree limbs blocking certain points of the compass, I was able to set up firing lanes...

Alternative (larger) platforms for saddle setups?

If you a beginner, I think going with the predator platform is the way to go until you gain enough experience. Discovery learning is the best way to figure out where to spend your money on new equipment.

    Crossbow shooting

With regards to the crossbow, I am using a Wicked Ridge G3 Invader which is about 6.5 pounds. Once I have everything in place, I haul up my crossbow and start figuring out my shooting patters for that tree. The number one thing I have to keep reminding myself is watch the limbs if I have a...

    Crossbow shooting

Hi, I am new to this forum. I received my saddle and platform last month. I have enjoyed the freedom to walk into the thick underbrush and not have to drag my climber stand. I am now practicing with Silent Approach steps to see if I can cut out the sticks. We have a local Wildlife Management...
