1 sticking with a stand???

I ordered the top step from real deal this mourning because of y’all. I ordered a bottom ewo with sewn in aider. My stick tube and stand offs are ewo as well picked up here in classifieds.
I would have bought a flat scout for $70 from OOAL or EWO before paying $90 more for that thing. It’ll work, but I don’t see it doubling as a platform well. It also looks slippery. I really have been impressed with the coating OOAL puts on their stuff.

What made you choose the real deal Amsteel one over something like a Scout?

I have a one stick with UP platform. I wanted the smallest top step I could find with a place for my rope to grab. That top peace is cheaper than $90 by the way. This stick is a one sticking stick for tree stand or my ambush platform. It’s set the same way my ultimate one stick is except the top or the stick.

Yeah the Lookout Top Step is actually cheaper than a scout.

It's also made by OOAL and has their coating.

I have been thinking about this. I have EWO ultimate one stick with the UP platform. But was wanting a barebones stick for this approach. Just two regular steps for the climb. I think I finally found one in classifieds and will put this too use. I one sticked a couple times last year. I was impressed with how far its come since I seen the big bears video what seemed like 5 years ago or more.
If you decide to sell your ultimate one stick I’m interested.
sold mine last year, still don’t know why

The lookout top step is $70 as well. I had a angled scout in past. I don’t plan to actually hunt from the stick. It is going to be used a a climbing method only.

I do not plan on it at all. I bought that last year. I am a collector of hunting stuff so to speak. And I never really sell anything I like a little bit. It’s just all tools in the box. I own 3 saddles. 3 lock ons. All high end stuff. And now 2 one stick climbing methods. Plenty of climbing sticks.

Scouts for 1"tubes have been sold out for some time....the Lookout Top Step from Real Deal Amsteel is sold out now too.

@enkriss has one in classifieds. I thought about picking it up but I like the Lookout bottom step with aider and a regular double step up top. Anyway, that's what's shipping to me. :)

Matt made all the steps I think but definitely the top.

The Lookout Top Step comes in at exactly 10oz and a footprint of 10in x 2in. This step proves that big things can come in a small package. If you are looking for that extra added stability and comfort when climbing but prefer to use a treestand or platform this is the perfect step for you. Has the same tether rope catch notch as the crows nest platform and the textured anti slip powdercoat. Fits all 1in tube sticks and has the same bolt spacing as comparable products. This step was made by OOAL. Thank you Matt for making my vision become a reality.

Nice. I couldn’t see the notch and I wasn’t sure what the surface was like. It looked slick to me at first. It does appear to be all machined vs the scout that is welded. Maybe that’s a plus for stability as well. It definitely looks thicker. If Matt is making it, it’s gonna be good stuff. Sorry I sold it short, clearly it has more going for it than I originally saw.

Nice, sounds like the right tool for the job then!

In Matt We Trust.

You're right that the surfaces of the lookout steps aren't grooved or anything, but I saw that they are coated with antislip powdercoat and read that bit about OOAL and based of my experience with the OOAL finish, that was enough for me to give it a try.

Although we always find interesting ways to use gear, I think the main concept is what Zac is pitching. 1-sticking with a stand or platform. A little lighter than an Ultimate 1 stick with scout, but more purchase for your feet than a top and bottom double step one stick and the added upside of an aider that separates from the tree better.

No idea how I'll like it. But SRT Saddle Hunter (AmsteelGuy) has come up with some good stuff, so what the hey, right? Gotta try gear to participate, I'm learning the ropes here, lol.

Sorry, I didn't know there was an amsteelguy that wasn't the real deal.

Geez, It's like trying to sort which Madrock and Ropeman folks are talking about these days (but probably easier than navigating JRB naming conventions, lol, jk John).

that's good stuff there.

Hey Guys i want to thank you all for your purchases. Barlow purchased the last top step earlier today. I should have more in 2 weeks. Im pretty much out of steps and platforms all together. All of these are made by OOAL. Im hoping that his anti slip powdercoat offers enough traction so that we dont need to add groves. The lookout bottom step is equivalent in size to the new ULS and the Crowsnest platforms is equivalent in size to the U.P. hope this answers any of your questions and concerns....1 more thing i have ordered a bunch of sterling rope and kong hardware....Real Deal Amsteel is just Amsteel anymore.

A name change in store???

Got my RDA one stick setup yesterday. Got a chance to climb with it earlier. It’s a solid, extremely fair priced option. Loved the extra room of the lookout top step. Gonna work out great for me paired with my Ridge Runner 2.0.
