I’ve had this go pro for a few years and often carry it around with me, but never seem to feel like taking the time to set up once I’m in the tree. I got to thinking it would be sweet if it was ALWAYS set up so I didn’t need to worry about hanging it in the tree. I found a $12 mount on Amazon that could recieve a 1/4-20 bolt…got the proper size bolt…put 2 fender washers on either side of the riser of the bow, and it worked! I now have a tactacam facing forward to capture any deer I want on video, and a go pro capturing myself. I think it’s gonna be pretty cool (assuming I remember to turn them both on in the heat of the moment :) )

Maybe this will inspire someone else! Enjoy.

Looks great! I ran my setup like that for a little while. The last two years I took the go pro off the bow and moved it to my tether via an alligator clip. I always forgot to turn the go pro on though. This year I swapped the tactacam and go pro to tactacam models that run off the remote for ease of use.

Looks good. Im having issues with tactacam with stab mount. I basically can not get the shot on film due to too much vibration. This was my biggest concern moving into a bow mounted cam. What settings are you using? I am looking to just get the point of impact on film to review shot and send to some friends in a text. Not lookin to get my 100k subscriber silver plaque or have some crumby Bear bow with my name on it. Just a in the moment review for back out decisions.

I am in the same boat. It’s the downside to the tactacam in my opinion. I just have the cheap version..I think it was $100. I don’t have it for YouTube or shot review. Just for the memories and to look at it with buddies.

That said, I have messed around with mounting the tactacam on the sidebar mount using the static bar mount that Matthew’s has. I think it’s 20 bucks or so. Right now I have a back bar mounted in that spot but I’ve been told if I mount my tactacam in that spot the vibration decreases significantly. I haven’t tested it yet tho.

Heavy duty zip ties on top of the riser has been the best for me. Least shake I’ve found. When I put it in slow motion I can see impact.

Last year I shot a real nice buck and completely forgot to turn on either of my cameras lol. My buddy who has a YouTube channel wasn’t pumped because he was making a video out of our whole trip. We laughed it off and found my buck, but still a bummer!

I get caught up in the moment! Maybe I’ll remember this year..

I put a go pro on my stabilizer as close to the grip as possible without interfering with my ability to grab the bow quickly and I have minimal shake. Is it the best? No, but it will show the shot clear enough to view the arrows impact if I ever remember to turn the camera on.

My question is specifically for the Tactacam in a stabilizer mount. Basically, I am confirming my suspicions, the Tactacam and probably all other current cameras suck mounted to something like a bow. I use it mostly for scope mount with pellet gun shooting critters in back yard, so not a total waste of money I guess but strictly for capturing bow shots, seems like a real turd. Thanks!

Apparently the new 6.0 has image stabilization. I haven’t seen actual shot video of that yet though.

Ya this tactacam 5.0 has “shot stabilization” as well haha. I should have known better since its impossible to find quality bow shot videos with a tactacam online.

Ok so with the tactacam 5.0 mounted on stab mount, it sits too low causing the footage to drop on shot. To raise the cam up, I found an attachment point and method to attach a 3” piece of conduit between sight and rest. I used the under the barrel mount to then attach to conduit. This puts the camera up much hire. I was able to get most of the shot on cam but not exactly impact. Im really practicing on shot form and what happens to bow upon release of arrow. It is still very frustrating that the thing does not work the exact way it was literally designed to work. Haha
