Congrats to team 7 on winning the inaugural deer contest! I think everyone knew when John joined that the rest of us didn't stand a chance! Next year we may have to limit entries to 1 buck and 1 doe similar to some other contests to keep the rest of us in it ;) .

But again, congrats to the winners!!!

Gentlemen

I will not be entering the saddlehunter deer contest going forward as I have the unfair advantage of hunting out of state one week a season and reside in a state with a 2 buck season. I'm seriously hoping that Michigan eventually goes to a one buck rule as hunting here sucks. I had an exceptional year here taking 2 ten points but in 2013 I ate both buck tags.

Keep in mind team 7 had Milkweed and he contributed big time.

John,

You are one of upwards of over a dozen hunters I know from Michigan - many of whom are personal acquaintances or family - that go out of state to seek mature and trophy whitetail. It's a sad state of affairs when hunters born and raised in our great state seek a better hunting experience outside of a state that, on paper, should be more than capable of producing a a very high quality hunting experience for those seeking mature trophy whitetail. I wont even go into the reasons why that may be but for me, as someone relatively early into my whitetail hunting career, it's pretty alarming to say the least.

At least we have arguably some of the best fisheries in the world... here's to last ice and the upcoming soft water season!

I spoke with John last night and hopefully he will reconsider and decide to enter the contest next year. When I created the contest I meant to place a 1 buck limit for each member to enter but I messed up. By the time I realized it it was too late and I went with the rules I had posted. I explained to John that I personally, and I'm sure many members of the site, would love to have him in the contest as he is just like us (although regularly more successful  ). John has the same opportunities to hunt as I do, and many other people travel out of state to hunt as well. I could have legally taken 3 bucks in just my own state last year but I only took one.

Hopefully John will enter again next year :D
