I drew my archery tags for this year for unit 11 anyone have any advice on tactics? I plan to hunt public and have a good idea of where I'm going to start. Was just curious if anyone had any advice. Thanks

We hunted Kansas last year and focused on water. If you have any rivers or lakes in the areas that you are planning on hunting use that to your advantage. We were able to use a boat or canoe to get away from pressure and also found a lot of sign close to the water. The deer really weren’t hitting the cut corn fields and bean fields as much as we expected. At least not in daylight. Also don’t overlook the small parcels and thin strips of timber. It doesn’t take much cover to hold deer up there. Good luck.

thanks yea i plan on bringing a boat for sure going up nov,1--nov,14

Bring rattling horns, don’t over look small pieces of walk in land some can be gems, bucks will bed down in the center of huge CRP fields and disappear like fish in a lake, check your pants for goatheads before you sit down in your truck seat, river edges and rut funnels are gold, good luck it should be loads of fun, I hunted Kansas once west of your unit, my third day in I had a booner bust me in the tree, if only I was rifle hunting lol.

I live in unit 14 but on the opposite side of 11. I mostly hunt 14 & 15 so I’ve never ventured over there.

Like mentioned before if you have a kayak or something it’s a great way to get to harder spots and slip in where others push the deer to you. Plan to hunt all day long each day. Last few years the only “calls” that have worked are rattles. Grunts etc I haven’t had much success drawing them in.

Good luck!
