2023 Load-out Weight Breakdown

Won’t win any awards, but still pleased that through advances in technology I can go in with four sticks (Tethrd) and a platform (Pursuit) and rappel rope and still be around 17 lbs.

A complete breakdown of my kit less the outer upper layers that go into the pouch of the turkey vest. These layers can be as little as a light jacket to a couple of heavy jackets and vest depending on the weather/time of year. The total is little deceiving as I carried a lot of this stuff when I carried a climber too. The weight of just "saddle stuff" is 13.56 lbs. This is a big improvement over the 37lb climber I used to carry.

Most people dont realize they have 3 lb.boots and 4 pounds of clothing alone.add carkeys ,wallet, cellphone, knife, calls, food, see how fast it adds up for real.put it all in a bag down too your socks and see what you get.my saddle ,2 tethers, and ring of steps ar 3.5 lbs.together.to hike all day i carry more than that in water.

Seems some people are just weighing pack because they wear their saddle in and some are weighing pack and saddle. Like I wear my saddle in and have suspenders with molle pouches that hold lineman rope and tether and other nonsense so my pack itself with sticks and platform I could put up a good number but it doesn’t mean much. And finally some are @tailgunner lol Guessing that @boyne bowhunter probably did what you’re looking for but that’s why this sort of data is not true data.

It’s laid back enough that it could be interpreted either way. I counted the saddle in my pack weight because I don’t always wear it in. That said, early season I often wear it in so do I count it or not? Idk. I did say load out though which could be part of the confusion since it’s less specific than pack and could literally mean everything you’re wearing. What I had in mind when starting the thread was what is the total weight of your hunting gear minus your bow and clothes? Or something like that.

Didn’t mean to come off critical, I was curious and the thread wandered a bit in what I could skim at the boys soccer practice. Gonna weigh for fun but I won’t be ultralight. Lol

Whenever tailgunner is mentioned you can guarantee there will be 6 pictures and 3 posts at minimum. I blame myself if it derailed the thread lol

I’m at 25 pounds almost on the nose with a gallon of water. Saddle and ropes were a lot more of it than I imagined but I’m not going to derail the thread further with brand. Kinda funny cause I jogged up two flights of stairs from our basement to the second story to do this so the combo of upgrading sticks and platform and using my daughter as a weight for the rucksack hikes must be paying off.

My saddle with roll pouch and rope and extra is 4.1 lb
One stick is 4.6 lb
Kifaru pack and frame w/ pouches is 7-8 lb
Kill kit 1.4 lb
First aide 11 oz
Plus other stuff I’m sitting at around 25 lb depending on how much water I take

For guys that like to create list of their gear with weights, lighterpack.com is a pretty cool resource that is used in the backpacking community. One cool feature is that you can denote items as “worn” or “consumables” that are not added to your base weight but are added into your overall total weight.

Also easy to share list. Needs some updating, but here is my tree stand setup.
