2023 Trail camera thread

... Anyway. Because I don’t live in a big buck state, I was very surprised at what I saw….. you dudes in Iowa, Kansas, MO, Indiana, WI, OH, etc… what stage of antler growth should we be seeing right now? This thing looked like a mid July buck already!!!
Here's a couple pictures of a nice Jersey buck, taken through my spotting scope, about an hour ago. Bucks everywhere here tonight...

Here's a few more from this weekend. Something to keep in mind is some bucks will grow their antlers early and peter out by early July, others will pack on the inches later in the summer. My best guess is it has to do with when they shed; the ones that typically shed early every year (not because of an injury) get a head start on antler growth.

I like that theory. Sounds reasonable to me. Your deer seem to be quite a bit more "filled out" than mine. Probably greens up in the spring a lot earlier down where you are too.

They're in good shape, for sure. We had a very mild winter, and a lot of rain early spring. Green up was a solid 2-3 weeks early here this year. It's been bone dry here lately though. Rain clouds rolling in as we speak, for the first time in about a month.

We had a similar weather pattern here in WNY.

First pics of bear this summer. They found one of my mock scrapes and loved it. Looks like a momma and 3 two year old cubs. The little stinkers pulled my wick off my licking branch. 5 mins after the bear left I had a deer on the scrape.

I wasn't able to draw a bear tag this year but I will have 9 points to apply for next season and should be able to secure one. I shouldn't have a problem filling a tag.
