350 legend and saddle makes a deadly combination

This weekend is the opening weekend for gun season. At the end of last season I bought a CVA scout 350 legend and topped it with a Leupold CDS 3x9 scope. When I say this thing is a tack driver, I'm not exaggerating. I figured out that the gun loves the 180 grain bullets from winchester...three rounds in the bullseye at 100 yards. I had a nice 8 point buck that came in behind me...I was able to turn around but he must have caught me turning and he turned around. I grunted at him and brought him back to about 60 yards. I put the scope on him and fired...the 180 grain bullet hit him in the shoulder...took out his lungs and exited the other shoulder. The buck didn't make it 20 yards before crashing in the creek. Awesome setup. C9ADF7D3-F3B9-4461-93EB-3E6DC5C99F4C_1_102_o.jpeg5B9A93CD-1F6A-4D40-A33A-9C20D52A3F94_1_102_o.jpeg

Got a friend that built one in an ar platform for himself and for his 9 year old daughter. He really likes it for it’s intended use.

Congrats! Nice looking buck!

I love my Mossberg Patriot 350L. I had built one in AR15 and liked the round but not the platform. Switched to the bolt action and loved it. One shot, one kill last year. I was wearing my saddle, but was on the ground during the shot lol.

Congrats on a good one

I spent yesterday looking for a large buck that was shot with a 350 the evening before. The shoulder blade stopped the bullet on the side he was shot on. He's still walking.
I'll use my 450, thanks.
Nice deer.

Congrats.

Shot a buck Friday high shoulder with 350L (from a ladder stand, no saddle). Dropped where he stood.

Those poor shoulders. Nice deer
Actually I was able to salvage a lot of meat from the shoulders. The 180 grain bullet really didn't destroy the shoulder like a 350 grain slug from my 12 guage would have done. Just from the shoulders and neck I have 18.6 lbs of grind...and I'm still not done with the processing. I still have the rear quarters to trim up and the two backstraps. So far I have 46.8lbs of grind and two deer already done with the 3rd one to be done this week.

I don't doubt it. Just commenting on the "ouch" of getting hit with that 350legend

That’s not the same buck in your trail camera picture. Nice buck though and good job

I just checked my trail cam and there is another 8 pointer walking past where I shot this one. Either way...I have another buck tag in my wallet...if he walks by me whether with arrow or bullet, he'll go for a ride if he gets in range.

In my mind the CVA Scout was a pistol. So I was surprised to find that it was actually a 20" rifle. I think this will be my next purchase, but I had been thinking 300bo, there is one available locally. But the 350L shows up locally as well. So who knows.

I can't remember the if the name was in the title but I watched some YouTube vids if a guy casting bullets for a 300 black and loading some stupid quiet subsonic loads for his kids to plink with. Called them "bunny farts" and boy were they quiet.
