I organize this event each year on the PA Saddle Hunter Facebook Group, but not everyone is on FB, so here ya go:

Sunday March 27, 11AM

Seven Points Campground, at Raystown Lake

Bring your questions if you're new or learning. Bring your saddles and climbing toys and gear if you're experienced. Bring a friend or a kid to help grow the family. And everybody will bring their butt and enjoy seeing how it feels in a different saddle brand or model!! I am happy to demonstrate my JRB rope climbing methods and our friends from NY Saddle should be in attendance too!
PS: no bows or weapons. Attendees accept responsibility for their safety. Please tie in if your getting in a tree.

Note: This event is not to be confused with a different PA event at Muddy Run on April 9.

The site link that you have above has the event at 6256 Seven Points Road in a parking lot at the top of the hill, but the Facebook page has it at 6145 Seven Points Road which looks to be down at the lake. Can you clarify?

I got this info from my contact:

The exact coordinates are (40.3727077, -78.0750241). The address listed is the entrance to the park which will get people close. The area we’ll be parking is called Allegheny Picnic shelter which is just 2 miles down the road from the park entrance. We will hang a sign at the entrance and direct people down to the exact location.

I got the go ahead from the boss and will be headed up in the morning if there is anybody from York/Lancaster county that wants to ride up with me.

Anyone interested in organizing one for 2023? I could assist if needed.

I am willing. The two details to finalize are the location and date. If it's a "PA" event, then it should be in central PA. If its Eastern PA, well, you get the idea. I believe PA is just too big to get people to go from all corners. My suggestion would be an Eastern PA event to start... maybe Hickory Run State Park. We just aren't going to find a date good for everyone... suggestions?

There was a central PA event last year. I posted a link on thread. Maybe they might be interested.

jhunter13 is going to look into a SGL up his way. There’s nothing saying we can’t have multiple meet ups. I think between the three of us we have north, central and south covered on the east side of the state.

I am also good for a central state meetup too.

Fingers crossed we get momentum on this.

Thanks!

Great. I'm willing to drive up to 4 hours. And by the way, the event that was posted in the other thread about central Pennsylvania was really more like Southeastern central. It was well attended though. I am also able to do one in North Central PA if someone has a location in Tioga county. I get up there once a month.

Although I've planned (and unplanned) this trip a few times now, I am pretty sure I'll be headed up to Lancaster Archery Saturday afternoon, hopefully to shoot some new compounds and probably buy one. Goals are to see what I like and if I'm doing anything wrong (heck, I think I have my draw length figured out, but who knows, I'm going with an open mind, maybe I should learn to shoot a hinge too, opinions welcome). Apparently they have a (free?) outdoor range that's open to the public and weather looks decent so if anyone would like to meet up either to come inside and "help" me pick a new bow or hang out outside and shoot some arrows/talk saddles and Killin deers or whatever, I figured I'd throw it out there. Happy to bring my recurve or other gear along if anyone wants to shoot it/test things out and swap tips/feedback if there's interest there too! If not and it's a solo mission, I'll likely post about the trip and whatever I bring home in a new thread. I need to get myself to a store that has more knowledgeable staff than bass pro and have been wanting to make the drive up from MD for a while, so buying myself a birthday present is as good an excuse as any I can think of to go up this weekend.

Even if you don't want to meet, any eastern PA saddlehunters have reccomendations for dinner somewhere around Lancaster? Or if there's a good spot to get some beers I could always sleep in the truck and drive home Sunday AM.

If you have to change plans and go a different day let me know and I can meet up. I'm in Lancaster but I'm out of town 6/10 and 6/17. 6/24 they are having a customer appreciation event and everything is 10% off with lots of giveaways too. But the store is chaos that day so plan on waiting a long time if you want to get assistance picking out a new bow.

Their "techsperts" are great and very helpful.

The outdoor range is free and has distances from 20-50 yards. It also has one pole that you can use your saddle and platform on if you want to practice those shots. The only thing that is a little odd about the range is that it is along a parking lot. I always feel odd about people pulling in and getting out of their cars down range. Shooters are usually good about holding off if/when people are accessing their cars.

Lots of good beer places in Lancaster too. PM me if you change days or something.

I wish I could but will be attending a wedding on Saturday.

I like to go there on a weekday, world of difference. It’s a pretty great sales experience overall. But those big sales are kinda crazy. I bought a bow for my daughter Black Friday a few years ago & for every 50-100 you spent you got a gift card. I stacked it up & came back after the holidays a got my new to me bow all setup.

Hmm maybe I should go test some things this weekend but plan to return on the 24th to buy one... Though I'll likely spend as much in gas as I would save with 10% lol

So, I just had my bow restrung there and when I was picking it up I saw that they are now selling Crispi boots. I was planning on shopping for boots soon anyway. I picked out the boots I wanted and confirmed they were included in the 6/24 sale. I planned to come back and buy them then. But then I decided that the $34 wasn't worth dealing with the chaos on 6/24 so I just bought them. Also I told a buddy I would help him move that day, so it was already going to be a busy day.

Terp is right they also give gift cards when you buy big ticket items. I usually get a postcard in the mail before the sale and I can post the sale here if it is better than 10%. He is also right that weekday visits are much better. I usually go first thing in the morning on a weekday and never have to wait for service. Especially once August rolls around, everyone has their bow in for tune ups.

What model Crispi boots? I have 2 pair coming in from blackovis.com (15% off, free shipping and they threw in 2 pair of socks for free.
I ordered the Kenai GTX and the Wildrock GTX Plus.

Living in PA most of my life, I hang my head in shame admitting I never made it to Lancaster Archery Supply. When I shot vertical I went to Weaknecht Archery and Mikes bait and tackle. (Semi-local and local).

Altitude GTX. I'm wearing them right now breaking them in lol. So far super comfy in my house.

I was planning to drive to the Center County Boot Store to try on Crispis, since that was the closest dealer to me (2.5 hours away) before LAS started stocking them. So I was pleasantly surprised when they had them.

Come on down to LAS!

I should take a road trip. My son just got his permit and wants reasons to drive on drives/trips.

The altitude gtx’s look nice and lighter than the ones I ordered.

Love my Thor II's. These look similar.
