Heads up to any one looking for 7/64"amsteel
Just ordered some for 22 cents a foot on simplylightdesigns.com. I ordered enough to get me over 15$ to get free shipping

Solid deal, thinks it’s $32 for 100ft on amazon so that’s a nice little savings. Thanks, think I’ll grab some

Do you guys think this is fine for continuous loops for knaider and swaider?

I don’t use those so can’t help you. I expect strength would be fine but how well it would function may be the issue

Appreciate your response. What do you use this size Amsteel for?

I’m going to daisy chain some and have a section that I use so that I can use my tether as a lineman’s belt also. This piece will be my secondary connection when I cross branches and moving from lineman’s use to tether use. Also plan on daisy chaining some and using on my sticks. Currently I use 1/4 and tie a hitch in it each time, so the loops will just make it quicker and easier

I ordered 100’ 2 weeks ago, it’s very small and not sure what to use it for other than hangers . No enough strength for me as a tether. Might try it on my sticks, but I don’t recommend this

I know the tensile on amsteel is super high and it is quite stout even at that diameter but that is smaller than 1/8". I can't imagine me using it for much other than a hella strong and light bow rope.

7/64 is used for hammock suspensions all the time. The weak part of amsteel is it isn’t abrasive resistant. Got to keep an eye on wear where it wraps around the tree.

What about making a long soft shackle to use as a tether? The how to video says using as a soft shackle increases the strength 2x.

No one can tell you what will be safe. You will have to do your own testing to suit your use and needs. I like to over compensate when my life is on the line. Wear and age reduce strength ratings. Also loads are increased a lot in a fall. Got to make sure you are covered. Where is that point and what’s over kill? Heck if I know.

Just got my 7/64ths in and didn't realize how small it seems. I'm building a double sit drag and was going to use it for my bridge. That would be two bridges wrapped in tubular webbing. Do I need to go with something larger?

I got mine in yesterday and plan on daisy chaining it for gear around the tree and a safety line / anti drop to the ground for my hand climber. If my hand climber ever makes it here.
