@Ontariofarmer good ole @huck72412 does hunt from a dinosaur saddle but ditched the flip phone for a smartphone so he can keep an eye on the classifieds in hope he can find a good deal on another dinosaur saddle.
@huck72412 is a pro staff member of Tethrd .... hard to imagine that man in something not labeled TL, unless Carl sews on a Tree saddle emblem onto the mantis???

When I initially hung from the mantis using the same Kestrel positioning, I thought the mantis was less comfortable. However, after dially the Mantis in, the comfort is the same. The sweet spot on the kestrel on my body is relatively low. The mantis fits me best a touch higher. I like this higher positioning better as well. It feels more secure in the tree. If comfort was an issue for me, I would have kept my Kestrels. I think you guys are going to be surprised at how well thought out this saddle design is.

Surprised because we know G2 was involved? Lol

Interesting that there was a recent thread trending on what we'd suggest to improve the Kestrel. These guys must have been firing their lips pretty hard.

That thread drove me nuts because you were describing all the changes we made!

As for the platform, I see you went with cast aluminum. Dan Infalt went with milled aluminum billets for his soon to be released hang on. Weighs only 6 lbs. much stronger material than the cast aluminum and more material can be milled away. More expensive but lighter, stronger. Did you consider that option? Just curious.

I believe it was ole Benjamin Franklin who said, “Three can keep a secret, if two are dead.” Some secrets are just too good to keep under wraps. Glad to see you guys join forces and collaborate on the most talked about and desired details of an “ideal” saddle setup. I hope all the hard work of everyone involved translates into more people finding an excuse to go hug a tree, smile and appreciate the great outdoors.

Very excited to try the new platform. I just received my kestral so won't need a package deal. Will the platform be available for presale in June without an accompanying saddle? If so take my money now!

The mesh and low bulk are what I’m interested in on the mantis. My first hunt in scentlok last year I literally had to remove my cellphone from its “life proof” case to wipe all the sweat away to take a selfie. The mesh isn’t going to stop that but at least it should help. And I should be able to hose it down and hang it up for a little while and it be dry. The kestrel dries slow.
Pack ability of a mesh saddle is a bonus for me. Sweat and hot are not a problem for me over 90 percent of the time. Is it worth buying another saddle. I am not sure. I had 5 saddles and now have 4 and would like to sell another.

I joked about titanium. One can dream.

Honestly, cast made the most sense in consideration of volume and final cost. We considered several different alloys, but stuck with sand casting.

We don't want guys complaining too much about price and money spent

I would like to hear some of your sizes and weights and info on the guys that have tested the Mantis.
I know Red hates the sit drag and G2 loves it you both are close to the same size but different builds. Do you both find the Mantis comfortable?
Flinginairos tall and slim. If memory serves me loved the sitdrag, and Kestrel.
Ernie didn’t like the sitdrag but loved the Kestrel.
MCDM what size are you?
I’m the same “size” as G2 but I’m “stocky” build. lol.
I would love to hear from some guys that are built a little different.

Yes we both find it comfortable. I would wear 1 size larger than Greg. You would probably want the same size as me.

There is nothing wrong with a Sitdrag, a trophyline, a kestrel, a Guidos Web, or any diy solution out there. Whatever gets you in the saddle!

Tethrd exists because the saddle hunting community deserves its own voice in the hunting world.

If you're like me and can't stop chasing the most lightweight, simplified, versatile, and well designed saddle SYSTEM in the world, you'll want to look at Tethrd.

If you're happy with your system, that's great! We want every hunter to have access to the best possible system without trudging through eBay, craigslist, forum classifieds, and DIY products. Treestanders don't have to do that. Why should we?

It’s funny to think how many raffle tickets you bought at SaddlePalooza trying to win one of the kestrels knowing all this was going on already ha ha
