I am planning on getting a saddle setup. This will be my first time trying this.
I have been watching a ton of videos to learn as much as I can

The help I need is on Weather I should buy a kit from one of the big companys like Trophyline, Cruzr or Lattitude or try and piece together everything.
While doing some looking like at Lattitude and Cruzr their kits seem really nice but Cruzr and Lattitude are both out of stock

I can save a little if i piece everything together going with all Tethrd gear as I am a member of Guidefitter and can get some discounts there on all Tethrd gear.

If I piece together here is what I have with all Tethrd gear

8mm Tree Tether
Ropeman 1 Ascender
11mm Lineman belt
Predator Platform
Menace Saddle
2-SYS haulers

Well I jumped in.
Found a deal on a Used Tethrd Phanton, 2 SYS ES 2.0, ropeman asenders, linemens belt and tether for $300 So i bought it.
Think Im going to buy a Predator platform and Versa Straps for my Hawk sticks and the platform and that should be a good start for me I think

Come to the light, the JX3 tree saddle light..............
Don't be afraid, you will sit from dark to dark very comfortably, no fidgeting, be able to snooze when you want, no dreaded hip pinch, no back aches, you can shoot 360° around the tree with any weapon, bow or gun, no weak side shot.
No platform required, only a ROS, or a JX3 wide top climbing stick, no sore feet, no knee pads required, no sore knees, no tired legs from leaning as you can sit all day, built in pack frame for carrying all your needs. No getting into “saddle shape” as your Lazy Boy at home does it for you. Buy once, cry once.

I agree with this. I own two JX3 Hybrids. I love them

I would try to piece thing together. For instance I tried many different saddles before I settled on the Cruzr XC and tried many different knee pads before staying with Tethrds. I also tried many different ropes and now only use Wild Line ropes. Lastly I tried many different backpacks before I selected the Badlands daypack. Everyone is different and so are the products in this style of hunting. Good luck this season!

All of my gear will be in the first of this week.
Pretty stoked to get it and get it set up in the yard and get to figuring it out.

Congrats…..what are you rappelling with? When you start one sticking just add a cam cleat and a giant gear tie to one of those hawks. Go ahead and put a single step aider on each of those sticks too. Welcome to the addiction!

Not going to go into the One stick this year. Want to get comfortable with the setup first and might give the rappelling and one sticking a try next year.
This year ill just be using the Hawk Helium sticks I already have.

Good call. I think it's best to work up to those more advanced methods. Start with the basics and then you'll have built up the knowledge and skill to figure out what you need from there. You're way ahead of the game with that mentality. Seen many people try to dive into this too fast and then they end up getting overwhelmed and give up.

Gotta love a good deal! Just starting myself and have been watching the local buy sell trade sites... Stuff ain't getting cheaper is it?!

Do folks rappel down using multiple sticks? I purchased a madrock, but I have no idea about rappelling.. I was wondering if I could still rappel down and grab my sticks off the tree as I go down? Proa stupid question, I just don't want to kill myself out of ignorance. TY

@TruShot77 when I was doing some you tube video searching I found a video of the guys at Cruzr showing how he uses his Madrock to rappel. Was a slick video. Might search for it t ogive you some ideas.

I think you're going to be much happier with the phantom over a menace. I still use sticks (novix) and have never felt the urge to one stick and rappel. I think it's best/ safest to start without that. I also do not recommend a rope man on your tether, friction hitches are easier and in spec.
