If this has been a topic, disregard. Got a big thick green workout band from work that was broken. I double it around my legs just below my knee cap. When I straddle the tree it takes all the pressure from the inside of the thighs. Planning on adding a buckle so I can adjust to size of tree or how close I want to be to tree. Will probably also add a way to connect it to one leg so it stays put while circling tree. Can add pics tmro as it’s kinda hard to describe. So, has anyone done this?

I have tried it with webbing sewn to fit different tree sizes but the rubber band sounds like a better option! Keep us posted!!

I’ve used a sling and just tied a knot to fit width needed for tree. Hard part is slipping it on/off.

There's a video on here somewhere and the guy was it @PJC?? demonstrates using webbing and he runs it thru his knee pads so it stays in place.
It seems like a good idea.
I have the strap and want to try it for an all day hunt, but I keep forgetting to put it in my pack. For some reason I seem to remember it around hour 8 of a 12 hour hang...haha.

You can accomplish the same thing by using a back band under your legs too. I have hunted with that and one on my back every soft saddle hunt this fall and last. It will add significant comfort to any soft saddle setup.

@Allegheny Tom - Is this the video you were remembering?

I've thought about running two back bands for that reason. Something in my mind keeps making me decide against it, because if it takes that many pieces to get comfortable, ill go back to a light hang on.

I just straddled the tree and wasn't that bad.
How large of a tree and how long of a hunt?
Trying to straddle a 16" tree during a 12 hour hang is not going to be very comfortable. I predict hip pinch when straddling larger trees.

I did finally remember to toss a strap in my pack and I used it several times. It definitely improves comfort.

It was probably a little over a foot across. I only hunt about 3-4 hours at a time.

You guys are more manly than me. I hunt areas with too few population of deer so sitting out there all day watching the squirrels gets old after awhile.

Sounds like where I live. Unfortunately.

I could probably endure more if there was something to see. I have coworkers that hunt lease property and see 40-50 deer while sitting in elevated huts. I am not dropping the kind of money they spend to hunt a few weekends a year. I am not a trophy hunter but do enjoy deer meat. A young doe tastes just fine to me. I got into saddle hunting to try public land and mostly ground hunted my private land during rifle season. The new owners logged the crap out of it and now it is a crap shoot on deer.
