Hey folks. Brand new to this and just ordered a Kestrel Flex so I'm doing a lot of thinking while waiting the "up to 10 weeks" for delivery.

Has anyone ever tried and would you trust a whoopie sling style amsteel bridge? Is there any info about how to if so?

Several guys use a whooped sling.

Rumor has it Tethrd is releasing an adjustable amsteel bridge that doesn’t rely on a whooped sling....

Yes, very curious about this. I like an adjustable bridge.

I’ve ran a whoopie sling on my clone all year. I like it just as well as my standard amsteel on my mantis. It works for me because I like the ability to set my tether height and adjust my bridge length for what ever position I want to be in *sitting, straddle, leaning. Only issue I have with it is the bump at the end of the buries. Have recently tried webbing and adjustable webbing and have put back on the WS. Several YouTube videos on how to splice them correctly.

The thing that bugs me about the Whoopie is the bump you get in the middle if it’s adjusted to a certain length then all the extra tail if you have it cinched down short. The bridge on the new saddle will turn some heads. I have tested it all year and it’s my favorite by far.

Do you have pictures of how yours is attached?

The bump from the whoopie can be annoying depending on how long you have it adjusted. I still prefer it over the fixed amsteel bridge. I haven’t tried this new head turning bridge but looking forward to it.

I’m gonna guess the new Tethrd saddle is gonna have adjustment in the connection point of the loops for the bridge. The bridge will be shorter, but it’s length adjustable bu loosening or tightening the loops where the bridge connects.

And I’m using a whoopie for my bridge. No issues with a bump the way I adjust it. I think the adjustment length that presents a bump can be mitigated by how high the tether is secured to the tree, and how far down or you the Prussik or Ropeman is placed. The long tag end, I tuck it through the saddle loop and it stays out of the way.

We’re all a little different in how we do things. Everything is a learning experience and i’ve learned a ton this year, being new to saddles. Looking forward to a new year with more offerings and opportunities.

@SemperFlightMedic I’m not sure tether height effects the bump on the bridge. Probably more about the proper bury length puts the bump within a couple inches of the carabiner with most desirable bridge lengths.

Higher tether might necessitate a longer bridge. Lower might necessitate a shorter bridge. Otherwise there wouldn’t be much need to adjust the bridge length.

As I’m sure you know, a shorter bridge brings the “bump” closer to center.
