I am having some shoulder issues this year and looking to hunt with a crossbow. I have practiced with my dads older wicked ridge out the saddle, and had no issues cocking using the foot stirrup or shooting off hand to 40 yards. I thought the fact that it was so wide would be an issue with the tree, but it really was not an issue at all. I am looking at buying a Scorpyd Dealthstalker and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with one from the saddle and what they liked and did not like. Also I am not interested in a Hickory Creek mini so please don't tell me that is what I should get lol.

I sold my ten point shadow nxt to get the Excalibur micro assassin TD bow. This is a hard hitting bow and I love the fact that I can place it in my pack and tote it to the tree on my back as well as set it up in the tree and crank it to fire. Super easy and accurate.

I will state that with the crossbow, when you get a deer in your sights....do not forget you are shooting a crossbow. I made that mistake when I was shooting at a doe. I laid the stock on the tree trunk and fired...the limbs hit the tree and left a huge gash on the tree. Crossbow almost jumped out of my hands and the string broke and hunt was over.

I sometimes use a Parker Thunderhawk crossbow out of my saddle . It's a short axle to axle and it's very light and easy to maneuver. To bad they went out of business. I did use a Barrnett Jackal with very wide limbs and still had no problems with clearance.

You should check out The Field Archer on YouTube if you haven't already. He uses a Deathstalker in several of his videos.

I'm a long-time climber hunter that's changing to a saddle this year. Will be using my Ravin R26 during the Alabama bow season. May take some getting used to, but I'm excited about not having to tote 20+ lb climbers.
