Advice on headlamps

Petzl Tactikka. Has three levels of white light brightness and red light. I only use the white light when tracking and always use red to go in/out. I do find that I spook less deer using the red light. Cruzer has some nice Black Diamond lamps on his page that I’m looking at to boost the lumens. You might look into those.
One of my favs too. I used a bunch of different ones and the Petzl just works and is simple.

"i don't need a new headlamp.... I don't need a new headlamp... I don't need a new head lamp.....I want a new headlamp.....I need a new headlamp"

Buy 2...they're light and easy to pack. Earlier this season my headlamp failed and I was stumbling through a thick swamp in public vowing it would never happen again. Heard a military guy say their motto is "1 is none and 2 is 1." Redundancy with compass as well.

Thoughts on a good headlamp. Seldom use a light going in or out morning or night. Tripped and fell on my ass coming out tonight. I’m ok just always felt a light would spook deer ( falling down surly spooked them..lol Heard red light doesn’t spook them. I need some advice on a good light setup.
Energizer has one that has 3 modes of light. 3 setting white light, a red and green light. I find I can see better with the green light and it doesn’t spook the deer either. Plus this one is not as expensive as some of the others.

Why in the he!! Do I even get on this site! Ugh I just picked up one of those Princeton Tec ones you recommended @GCTerpfan !! Says it’s USA made too!! I’ve been using a stream light with two green modes and one white setting. It’s been a great headlamp but it does have top bottoms and occasionally insee it on in my pack. Just tonight while setting up to rapplendown I had the headlight on low green mode. A doe came up and was just watching me. She didn’t spook at either the low or brighter green modes but I couldn’t see her eyes in the green mode so I turned it on white too but she never spooked until I got down and just slightly clanged my platform with the link on the aider I use. It was really load either but then she blew once or twice and trotted off.

Lol, At least it was a $30 headlamp and not a $300 saddle. Baby steps

I almost got one but all of them seemed a bit too complex for my needs (programmable I guess by pushing and holding the buttons). If I found a simple one from them, I'd probably buy it to try out.
The easiest to operate is the cap light. On or Off. No red but I like them. Great for cutting up a deer .

been using various Fenix head lamps and handhelds for something like 5 years now. Nothing but good results, no failures, very well made and durable products.
