Aerolite stick cut down?

I have a set of the old Muddy Aerolite climbing sticks. Long, 3 double flip up steps. Nice sticks, but heavy and awkward to pack in or carry in.
Has anyone cut these down? I am not experienced with cutting down sticks and am not sure if it would even be worth doing to these.

I cut mine up, put the versa button about 1/3 of the two steps spacings

Did you cut the bottom off? Do you like the way they turned out? I am afraid it won't be worth the trouble

Cutting them up and adding an aider you are the same length as not cutting one. Also I like how compact they are. The step spacing is pretty short but IMO it is better than lugging a long stick with you through the woods.
