After My first season using saddle and lwhc...

I’m bound and determined to figure out a quicker way to climb with it. The loss of foot raising potential each time i put tension on the tether/saddle drives me nuts. I liked everything else though. I was just outside using a lw sit n climb top as a top portion And i flew up the tree. Problem is its another 5lbs to carry in. There’s gotta be a better way...

Moving the tether up is obviously the slowest part of climbing with that approach. I don't see how you could speed that up though honestly.

Ya. Im thinking of trying to rig up a handle you would put up high n then pull yourself up. I dont like going up on tip toes setting tether as tight as you can and then sinking down losing so much potential lift

I haven't used it much yet but I set mine up to be used like a single stick and repel but you could do the same for the way upScreenshot_20201217-212653_Gallery.jpg

After my deer season ends on 1/31, I'm going to start making more videos. One I have in mind is LWHC tips n tricks. One trick i have learned is to raise the tether up as high as I can ( no tip toes for me) and choke it tight. Then I weight the saddle and as I'm standing again, I tighten the ropeman. That way I get the most travel up the tree when I raise the platform. Now you may already be doing that and still think it's slow but it works great for me....I thought of making something to pull up on too but it's just not worth it for me. I'm always looking around while I climb so before I know it I'm 20 to 30'. I tend to hunt high when I use the HCer and hunt lower in the junk with my Beast Sticks.

So you raise tether, raise ropeman, weight saddle, stand again, and raise ropeman a second time, then lift your lwhc? Live your vids man. Keep em rollin

And I use my belly lol...yea I think that's it. Every inch does count with this, I agree. I'll make the video soon....thanks for the compliment

First year with Saddle and LWHC seat. I struggled with it the first 8 or 10 times out. Kept going back and watching Adrena’s bolt mod video until I finally was able to duplicate to some degree what he was doing. By the end of the season I could go up and down quickly with minimal effort so watch Adrena’s videos and stick with it as it does get easier!

I like using the sit-n-climb top with the lwhc...Together they weigh about 10 lbs and the sit-n-climb makes it so much easier and quieter to climb with....Packs very nice also....I also usually use a screw in or Bullman strap on step at the bottom of the tree so I can start the climber higher on the tree to miss some of the 'trunk bulge' a lot of trees have for the first 3 feet or so which also reduces the amount of adjustment needed as I climb.

Was thinking of trying this. Do you sit while you climb or support yourself with your hands/arms only? Do you have the sit bar attached or did you take it off to save weight?

Following as I did the hc mod he did in his video. I had one prior to moving to a saddle and thought this was a great climbing option. Will be trying this method out this week after turkey hunting

Here's a tip that may be helpful:

When I used mine, (with bolt mod) I never used a Ropeman1. I used a normal tether with prussic and never adjusted once I started climbing.

The key for me was to raise the tether on the back side of the tree as high as I could while standing on tiptoes. Then pushing the front part of the tether (the girth hitch part) up to match the height of the rear side. Doing this eats up all the slack in the tether and makes everything pretty tight.

I also told myself to quit putting so much effort into maximizing every move and "take smaller bites". With this strategy and mindset, I was able to make the LWHC with bolt mod usable.

Give it a shot...

That said, I don't really use my LWHC anymore. I made a mini stick with a slanted scout platform and I use that 99% of the time now. I can climb almost any tree, go around branches, and do so almost as quickly as I could climb with the LWHC.

Taking your time is definitely the best practice. Make sure you enjoy learning! I have!

Thanks! I have found it pretty easy to use it without the bar. I can lift foot platform much further each cycle. Still experimenting tho
