Watched somebody on Saturday scurry up a tree with (I think) cmi aiders. A 5, 4 and two 3 step aiders on squirrel steps (or ameristeps?). Were they the blue cmi ones? And if so, do y'all think That blue aider hanging down the tree matters to a deer?
Had a great time and learned a lot from y'all. Thanks! Mark

Thanks, went ahead and subscribed to your channel!

Thank you. I really need to redo and film the entire climb as the video I posted of then entire climb was only my second time doing this method and I’ve honed it in much more efficiently. The video titled “My Saddle Hunting System” is more accurate but only shows one step/etrier combo of climb. Stay tuned for another one soon....

Do you find this method effective when a tree starts bending - like an oak treee when the trunk isn’t fully vertical ?

Do you find that you need two lineman’s ropes to get around limbs in this type of scenarios so you don’t swing away from the leaning tree trunk ?

I’m considering this method but don’t want to put myself in some tricky situations or alternatively limit my tree selection

I haven’t had any issues through a full season of hunting. I don’t specifically recall hunting any severely angled trees but definitely some that weren’t straight. I don’t fool with two LB’s. I just unhook and then go above limb(s) and re-hook LB into saddle loop.

How difficult is descending in the dark using the CMI etrier? I just bought the purple 3 step CMI etrier and tried it out the other day.... found it rather difficult to get my size 11 Irish Setters in the loops. Hoping practice will make perfect.
