Air rifle recommendation

Why do I read these threads? I haven't hunted squirrels or rabbits since I was 14 and now I find myself looking at high psi compressors, air guns and for some reason convinced myself I need both. Will my Daisy Red Ryder be good enough? I think I even have the 'ol Crosman pumpmaster laying around somewhere too if I really need to reach out there and get 'em.

I love shooting squirrel and rabbit out the window and having a good lunch. And no your daisy will not do the trick.

Lol! I was being a bit sarcastic (hard to tell online) the 'ol Daisy has put down a bushel basket of sparrows, the shop window and I'm guessing I got lucky on one or two squirrels. .17 and .22 rimfire ammo is getting crazy and I've been looking into air rifles for awhile.
What is the sound comparison to a PCP in a .17 or .22 compared to a subsonic .17 or .22 rimfire?

That one is piston not spring. Have been happy with it for years. Again not a light Springer, and not my go to for rat killing, but for power I cant be beat.
Its getting reviewed as the best under $200. I may own one shortly. Thanks for the tip.

I'm not your man on that, I have a gamo varmint, and my old gamo whisper cat at my moms house is plenty quiet, but just makes squirrels mad. I've put down rabbits with it though.

I have a Beeman Sportsman RS2 series break barrel and it comes with 22 and 17 barrels for a little over $100 and it is a tack driver with several different pellets and the 22 has some thump to it! To put it to you in terms of hunting I have killed coyotes with it as long as you hit them correctly! I love mine if it goes kuput on me I will buy another and have thought about getting one just to have as a backup cause I like it so much! The only downside is it is spring powered but still has plenty of speed and thump to it!

I only have a .25 caliber Airgun and it is WAY quieter than my Rimfire 10/22 shooting Eley subsonic. The sound of the pellet hitting the squirrel is louder than the air rifle

The break actions are mostly accurate but can be extremely hard to shoot accurately. Especially from field positions. I want to get into the pcp game. If ammo keeps going the way it is I’ll probably get a nice 25 and an air bow.

I have been wanting a larger caliber pellet gun so in your opinion is the 25 alot better than the 22 or should I step up to the 30?

If you can buy bigger, go bigger.

.177 really isn't a hunting rifle. Close range pest control sub 10 yards or as a dispatch gun. I use my .177 mostly for trapping in places that are close to houses.

Its ordered along with 300 barracuda extreme hollow point pellets

This. My whole day and evening, this.

Money will be leaving in 2021...Squirrelmageddon will be coming.

Little bastards have been taunting me for years in the archery woods. There's a storm coming!

I have a vintage crossman 130 .22 pistol I often carry on those bluebird days the only thing that seems to be moving is the freakin gray squirrels....

I’m glad I’m not the only one....haha.

My son has a blow gun with darts that would stick through your hand. Imagine a squirrel at close range with that.

If anyone does this, please post to the contest thread. It should be a bonus point.

I have a qb79 with 9oz co2 which is good for 400 shots. It’s extremely accurate at 30 yards and you can do all right 80-100 yards out.

Why the airgun? The one wood stock break barrel I shot was damn accurate but weighed a ton. Save some money and buy a 22 that shoots 22 shorts, of course finding ammo is not easy ☹️

My .25 airgun weighs 4 pounds two ounces with a scope. Weighed on a digital scale, not going by manufacturers BS specs.
