New to the saddle hunting and was pondering the cheapest way to carry all climbing sticks and pack out a deer if successful. I believe I have found the cheapest solution. I bought Hawk helium’s and haven’t modified them ( I understand why people do if they don’t have $350 for a good pack to carry them). I got an Alice Military backpack frame. I took the cam buckle straps off the sticks and used them to secure the sticks to the frame. I cut out and zip tied an old foam sleeping pad for comfort. My sticks are rock solid to the frame and don’t rattle at all. There is plenty of room to quarter deer and pack meat onto the frame. I will carry accessories in a cheap fanny pack I bought on amazon. I will be using a ring of steps and H2 saddle. Can’t wait till season!

Nothing wrong with that cause it is economical and effective

I use one as well. It keeps the sticks in tight to your back and they carry tons better like that. I have tried a whole Lotta backpacks and they don’t carry as well.
I put pipe insulation on mine to make it quiet. Stealth strips would have been great but more expensive. I had the insulation on hand

I really like what you've done here. I've been experimenting with mine, but haven't hit on what will work best for me. The way you have the sticks strapped on is way better than what I was doing. Any suggestions on carrying sticks with a medium pack on the frame? I'm trying to avoid carrying a separate bag.

I've tried about everything to secure loads to a pack frame and by far the best is the military ALICE cargo straps that have a very secure cam-over mechanism for binding with little stretch. In short, these things when attached properly can actually torque the pack frame.Cargo Straps.JPG

Depends on what you want to carry. If your load would extend beyond the bottom of the alice pak it'll be in the way. Try the straps and you will see you can lock down anything to that pack, many times with just 1 strap.
