Anyone running the Alps Big Bear pack? I'm considering it but I'm curious about something. If you have gear in the upper bag, can you still access gear in the fanny pack portion?

Yes you can. But it sux to carry anything with actual weight.

I'm actually just looking for something to carry misc to the treestand. I like the idea of the additional space for those times when I want to toss rain gear or an extra layer in
