Aluminum Bar Grating Platform?

As it seems to be for most people, saddle hunting is becoming a constant DIY project for me. In the search for a cheaper platform solution, cutting an appropriate sized section of serrated aluminum bar grating and attaching it to a section of square aluminum tubing came to mind. I’m curious if anyone has tried this and what your thoughts were if you have.
