anyone tried using .5in aluminum flat bar with added steps and v bracket as a climbing stick? similar to the LWCG D'Acquisto sticks except not milled from a single block of aluminum.... not sure if it would be lighter then aluminum 1 in square tubing? any thoughts on structural integrity? it seems that the LWCG sticks are just as thick and they arnt concerned about bending when camming down to tree?

marginal difference in weight
.5x1" flat bar .58lb per ft
1x1x.125 square tube .51lb per ft

5/8 square stock has been proven, though some folks complain its too flexible. I can't confirm alloy used, but my guess is 6061.
