Not really a downside. If you get your gear wet and dirty it's all got to come off eventually. I called the stealth strip guy everything but a child of God the one time i had to get that stuff off a carabiner.

You may get a few years out of stealth strips, but when they have to come off you may as well make a day out of it. Vet wrap you can cut off and reapply in 15 minutes.


Thats a really good, often overlooked point. Sticking is good but sticking too much isn't.

I don't disagree but figure some folks are lazy (and the original guy was talking paint which could last but be noisy as all heck.)
 
There's some weird satisfaction cutting off the old wrap and rewrapping, OCD maybe...Paint is not going to give you the noise deadening factor wrapping them will, but if you're slow and careful, paint will still help some...I'm surprised EWO doesn't have a coated version...
