Am I too late to saddle up?

I started with a modified Sit Drag (I sew a bit) while I waited for Tetherd last year. It works and I have a back up in case I need it or my son wants to go.

I'll second the Ropeman, especially on the linemans belt. The Ropeman1 and 2 are in stock on Amazon right now, but it looks the prices have gone up. Ropeman1 is now $60 and the 2 is now $50.

Dont wait chances are next year there will be some new saddles and they will all have the snags and hang ups just as they have had the last few seasons so you will be at square one next summer. Like others have said, you could get a rch and make a sit drag from fleece. You can get to practicing and when you get your big name saddle, you can let your husband try the rch sit drag combo.

It's never too late. You can go ahead and get a feel for shooting out of it at ground level with a towel and some rope (short video of this on the G2 outdoors channel on youtube.) Also Tethrd is getting faster on their shipping times. If you ordered today good chance you will have it just before your season opener.

Jest get in a tree! If you have to run by REI and grab a rock climbing harness, and put together a fleece saddle... it will still be better than your climbers!
I’m still rocking a 3 year old Sit & Drag I put together and have yet to upgrade. Mostly, I haven’t upgraded because I’m cheap and “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

Heck I even do several all day sits a year in a sit drag. Not as light or comfy as a mantis, but it’ll do for now.

Since this turned into the Ropeman thread, I use a Tibloc on my linesmans belt and a prusik on my tether. The Tibloc is much lighter than the Ropeman.:)

Get an ascender of some flavor at least for your linemans rope... Made my first climb yesterday using sticks and testing my new saddle and the only tricky part was adjusting the linemans belt when I was adding the 2nd stick....otherwise the saddle was great.... i can see where every trip up will allow me to become more relaxed which is crucial.
