Is there any other way to know if the steps are recalled other then the stamp?. I recently just purchased 5 used steps on their original straps, but they are used and worn I can't find a date code on them. I'm debating if I shouldn't just sell and get the Wild edge steps any way as they look solid , but long to set up.

Is it the number stamped inside the divets by the strap slot? Because three have 4 and two have a 2 in there?

Also do you all think dipping the step in an epoxy resin that dries rock solid would help "strengthen" the step.?

Ive used 08s and non 08s. The 08s will noticeably flex rather that settle/shift on the strap.

Just double them up if youre uneasy about them. So 6 steps paired up to give you three wider steps is really all you need on most trees. 2 mains and a mid point to push/lean out from. Even 5 with your two mains doubled up.
Once youre putting any weight onto that single mid step, you should already be tied off/linesman belted to the tree

The guy said he never saw a date code on them. Maybe I'll get some pictures up.

I think they are an earlier model because there is definitely no date stamp nothing even worn just smooth... now would it decrease their value if I paint them nice and black again

Can you post some pics of what you have? I'm not sure why you'd need to paint them so I want to see what you have.

I bet they are an older model because the strap looks a little different than the ones I've had. I wouldn't paint them, I'd just use them as is.
