AmSteel-Blue Rope uses

Is 1/4 inch AmSteel-Blue safe to use for life-line (to rappel down) from a tree?
Is it not thick enough to use with prusit knot - believe rope to make a prusit knot has to be thinner then main line it attaches to?
Also, I thought I read you should not tie knots in AmSteel, is that only because it makes it weaker at that point, and if so by how much? is the only way to create a loop in one end of it by splicing?

amsteel is NOT a rope to use for rappaling. I wouldn't advise it...at all. I wouldn't use it as a lifeline either. The rope will collapse when you put a prussic. It's strength is when is pulled and it grabs itself and locks the rope. Whoopie slings, brummel loops, etc is where the strength comes into play.

Newhunter1 nailed it. I'm just repeating the same things - DO NOT use Amsteel for rappelling, climbing, or tying knots. Do not try to use a prussik on it. It's slick, it slips, it collapses. It's not good for use in rope mods (unless it's a daisy chain), ropemans, as a lifeline, as a linemans belt (at least a knotted one), etc.

It's really strong and useful for splicing due to its hollow braid structure. It's excellent for whoopie slings, spliced-end bridges, splicing loops, and daisy chains.

Dig in & figure out its uses plenty of information here. Do not use it for that purpose!!!!!

Yep, after searching, feel pretty dumb, long time stand user but this saddle tech is all new to me. That's why I ordered a Mantis STARTER kit - lol.
