Amsteel Full Bury??

I built a utilibridge for my sit drag saddle out of 1/4" (full bury) and made a 1/4" prussik that is essentially full burried and it works great. Hasn't slipped on me one time.

I just did the exact same thing. Is there any issues to using the 1/4" for the prussik rather than the 3/16"? or is 1/4" on 1/4" good to go?

@RMcDonald7 I cant definitively say 1/4" on 1/4" is okay and wont slip, I just know for me it works. I also have a large knot tied on the tag end of the bridge so if it does slip, I aint going anywhere

I’m torn on this question for several reasons. First how thick a 1/4 full bury prusik is. That’s a big prusik and you would need to bury approximately 13” in each direction for it to be the correct holding strength. So your prusik would also be very long.
Secondly all guides to friction hitches suggest a reduction in size to 60-80% of the lead rope (a Blake’s hitch and a couple other single leg hitches are exceptions and can be used on the same size line). However since amsteel bites down so ridiculously well, I would love to see it drop tested to see how well it holds at that 100% sizing. Whatever you do make sure you have a large well tied stopper knot on your main bridge line, just in case and if it does slip, replace it immediately because amsteel has a low melting point compared to other ropes.

copy that. I'm very new to all this and love to learn.
It seems to bite very well, I'm going to try and do some ground level hanging this weekend hopefully. Waiting on my tether/ ropeman and carabiners to come in.

Thanks for the replies fellas!
