Is this a bad idea.. it seems to keep the aider more steady and away from tree.and from kicking out... just tried it seems to work.. I just unset bottom stick put a section of amsteel around bottom stick step then set it back in.. seems to unset bottom stick a little.. but sets back in when I step on it..

Probably won’t kill you, but could cause pain/injury if something goes wrong descending. Definitely wouldn’t do anything like that any higher up the tree.

I just used the original lone wolf strap along with the modded amsteel rope on bottom stick.. tied rope on stick like normal.. then put the lone wolf strap lower at an angle to the versa button and pulled tight..stick wouldnt move either direction locked in solid

If u were climbing a tree that was a little crooked or had to set ur top stick slightly offset of ur bottom it could cause issues....if u did swing a little in the aider I could possibly unseat ur lower stick

Here is what I did.. just trying to get down to two or three sticks.. with aiders and be solid for a fat old guy..lol

i've been kicking around an idea for a while, i'm calling it the aiderpersuader. basically it's a set of flexible standoffs that you strap to the tree and it holds the bottom of the aider in place so that it doesn't blow in the wind.

I use one of these

It helps a lot gaining extra height and you never have to find the place for your foot.

That's awesome

Ive been wondering about the folks that use fixed aiders what do they do with them on windy days? Feels like they would be flapping and swinging all over the place and im not a huge fan of that.

@Bama_Xander seems like its just a stirrup that cinches on your foot with some shock cord to keep the end that hooks to your stick attached to your leg and another up to your belt, so the loop that hooks to the stick stays pretty much right near your knee. Am i seeing that correct? I think knaiders are just like that except they use a hook instead of a loop.

It does seem possible to push the aider sideways on the way down, unseat your lower stick, and then step onto something unstable.

That is how it works. The loop is Amsteel. They make them different lengths so your step is the same as your stick.
